Very strong and rolls on sugar sand
Got this for a week trip to the beach house. We had rented some big, heavy beach chairs, and the thought of lugging them for everyone over the soft sand dunes had me worried. I thought this cart would work, and boy did it. I got four heavy chairs, a cooler, and bunch of beach toys on this. I could use the pocket to store my bottle opener and sunscreen. It handled all the weight I had and it really rolled well, even on the softest, loosest sand. I think it will also be great when we go car camping at walk-in sites. We'll probably also use it for the Mardi Gras parades. I also like that the wheels come off and on easily without any tools.
My main complaint is that it has a really strong odor of vinyl or rubber or something. It made the whole house smell of it when I first go it out of the box. Even after a week in the sun, it still reeks of chemical fumes. I had to wrap it in some heavy duty garbage bags so it wouldn't stink up the minivan. The other thing I noticed is that after one week of beach use, it is already starting to show little spots of rust. Those will undoubtedly continue to grow. That is part of it when you go the beach with something made of steel, but it is a little disappointing. They did not use stainless steel, and the coating on the steel tubing has some imperfections where corrosion can begin.
All in all I like it a lot and would reccomend it.
We actually purchased this cart to use for hauling stuff (bags, cooler) from our car to our boat at the marina. The carts supplied by the marina aren't always very clean or even available - so having our own is very convenient and this one is just right. It folds down small to carry in the car, and then folds back to leave at the boat slip until we return from being on the water. The capacity is excellent - it holds a large cooler plus an XL boat bag and picnic bag without any worries of being overloaded.
Great idea !
Easy to assemble for a 65 year old woman. It holds quite a bit for camping so that the loads are smaller and not as many trips to the car which could be a distance. I will be testing it on sand this summer and see how that goes. The only thing that is quite bothersome is the smell of the wheels. So far it has lasted a long time. Not fun in an enclosed car -- it's pretty strong. Otherwise, I am going to be happy with it.
Best beach cart in this price range!
We went ahead and purchased our beach lugger for our next summer vacation. This is exactly what we need to haul cooler, beach chairs, beach bag, etc.. without killing ourselves...you are on vacation, right? Campmor had the best price and free shipping. This was the best beach cart in this price range after researching many online. I also watched a you tube video on it for assembly - which is simple - and on its use and capacity. Search "best beach cart".
"a great beach tote"
I went for this tote because of the pneumatic tires. I haul a lot of gear to and from the beach. This product is as good as any other tote I have used. Actually better. I added a plastic tub to contain small items and am very pleased with the addition. At the beach, the tub serves as a catch all and keeps stuff out of the sand. NOTE: you need a bicycle hand pump to initially inflate tires.
roll me away
Great for hauling the ice chest and other gear in & out of campsites, and hotel rooms. Big air filled types roll on bearings. Folds up easily. I use quick release pins on the axels and remove the wheels for more compact storage.
The tires stink for a good month, and will impart a rubber smell to anything stored with it for a while.
Beach Lugger is for all-terrain...
I was originally looking for a pull cart specific for sand use but I have since used this to roll on any surface but really most helpful on sand! Also pulling up against the curb or steps is a breeze because of the larger wheels!!
Took the beach lugger to the Outer banks of North Carolina. It worked great in every way.
The only negative I can report is the petroleum smell coming off the inflatable wheels. It is REALLY strong, even a month later.
Use- car camping, hauling cooler & gear/food tubs from/to car. Works great. Large tires roll over/thru anything, but also make it bulky to pack. I replaced axel pins with re-usable clips and remove wheels for pack-up. Works great.
ok, it is official, we are styling
wow! SO LOVE THIS. My guy loads this up and I get to tag along. Empty handed! Thought this was for old people... not!!
