Beginner's Luck on the Shetucket? Cleo's Rock!

My friend Dave and myself ventured out to the Shetucket River, CT. for the first time earlier this month for those big breeder Atlantic Salmon. We were both using spinning gear and single hook set up lures as regulations state. No treble hooks or extra weight are allowed. I let Dave use my Nickel Cleo and I scouted the river up next to the Scotland Dam with a Top Gun. We were able to cast about 50 to 70 feet across with 8 to 10 pound test with the Cleo. Dave scored first and big with a 24 inch 4 pound Atlantic Salmon on the Cleo. What an awesome meal that weekend - a little Chef Paul's as a light rub and lightly brushed with butter over the charcoal. Needless to say, I'll be back to Cabelas for a few more Cleo's!!! Why should the flyfishers have all the fun?

love the little cleo!

i love these for catching trout and bass. i'm sure they would probably catch plenty of other fish but you can't catch em if they aint out there. i really like the 1/4 oz. gold for rainbows and white bass early in the day until dusk, pretty much any time the sun is shining. i've probably caught more fish on these little spoons than any other bait or lure i've ever used.

Cleo's are killers!

I've been using Little Cleo's for 20 years at least (still fondly remember the days of the "wiggle girl" on the back) and have caught untold numbers of freshwater fish on them. If there is any negative thing to say about them is that they are a bit expensive for what one gets (flat piece of painted metal with a hook)...but that is more than made for with their effectiveness.
