The protection from the guards more than acceptable. The plastic is hard, and the foam backing is sturdy. They fit "fairly" well around the leg, understanding that each shin is shaped differently. The main issue is that the sleeve that comes with the shinguard simply does not hold them up. I have simply wear them down around the top of the ankle. If you want to have them up around the shin, you will need to reinforce them somehow.

I play club soccer for a U12 team, and these are okay. The material on the inside starts to come off, and don't even think about wearing it with no sleeve! They slip and slide and really bugs me. But overall an okay product.
