Works great for me

For many years I have been using this supplier's emergency shelter, waterproof and with a radiant barrier, but it sweated. This bag solves that problem. I take it everywhere, and sleep with my normal bag inside. It adds around 20 degrees F, roughly, to my normal bag. Weighs about 8 Oz. Durable if you use some care. I am 5'9" and 160 lb, and the bag could be a little bigger for use over a sleeping bag, and the zipper could be a little longer, as one must be careful getting in and out. No room inside for your mat, so put it underneath. This is basically like tyvek with an added radiant barrier, so it's not bombproof, but it's a great product for the money, and weighs so little! I use it instead of a tent for normal conditions. I now use my old Adventure Med Ultralight shelter for a ground cloth underneath to protect my mat and add more radiant heat protection.

good for emergencies

Product is very strong material does not seem to thin would have given five star but it is not as wide as I expected. I thought I would be able to put my sleeping bag inside it but then it would be very snug, seems snug without it I'm 5'5" 190, then again maybe thats what u need to stay warm. It is very small rolled up it will fit in a glove box with no problem.

Breathable Bivvy Fabric works great!

This bivvy shelter works great for emergency survival. I believe that SOL rated it for 50 degrees F. Put more clothes on or add a sleeping bag for addtional warmth. The best improvement is the breathable fabric to get rid of condensation on the inside of the bivvy. At the same time the bivvy fabric prevents entry of moisture from the outside.

strong light weight and can't find it any where else on the internet for this price. Small enough to stash any where and gives great peace of mind for emergency situations. great in the trunk or in day pack

perfect for my needs

Pack-in hunts require minimum weight and maximum performance. This bag does both. Definitely not for extreme cold weather. Perfect for early archery hunts

Negative Reviews:

Potentially life threatening beware

Used in -15C. Was unable to sleep all night as the cold and damp got worse. By 3.30 in the morning I had to escape from the escape bivy as the interior of the bivy was soaked in condensation and the bag was wet as well. This turned to ice once I was out of it and then water when I brought it indoors. Without a means to dry out the bag and bivy every day the bivy could turn into a death trap due to accumulating condensation in winter conditions. No breathablity rating is given and I suspect it is as close to zero as makes no difference. I could not even get through one night comfortably, and on a real cold winter night I would not want to even try it out. This is not like promoting a new brand of ice cream. Many people out there have little wilderness winter experience and could take this out in winter situations believing the advertising. There needs to be independent testing of the product before awards are given for its innovativeness.
P.S. On this first opening of the bivy the drawstring came right out suggesting it had not been properly secured in the factory.

Neutral Reviews:

The bivy is not long enough

Tried it with a fleece liner in 30ish degrees. It was okay. Overall, the product is light and small.
