superlight summer bag

I got this to use as a summer superlight sleeping bag or possibly as a VBL liner for winter use. For several years, I've used these sorts of reflective bags for summer use, at low elevation in the Eastern forests. Not only are they super light and small, and cheap, they are also waterproof which can be nice if you're using a tarp. I've used the "mylar" type bag from another maker. Too flimsy, and also noisy! I've also used the "thermoshield" bag by Adventure Medical. This is a little sturdier and not so noisy, but has unnecessary features like a foot vent. The advantage is that you can possibly skip a groundcloth with it. This bag might be too flimsy to use without a groundcloth, so the weight advantage is perhaps negligible. Should work well as a winter VBL liner though. Seems quieter than the mylar bags. Ultralight extremists should give it a try.

Way Better than the Competition!

I was quite suprised by the size of this little gem. It has plenty room for even a big & tall gentleman. It took me a while to figure out how to fold it without it holding air like a balloon, and then it hit me: do several "hot-dog" folds until it is only about 1 1/2 inches wide, then roll from the foot end. It repacks much better than other space blankets, and it is a lot quieter. Although I haven't spent a night in this product, I did spend a few hours with a space blanket/tarp combo sandwiched between a sleeping bag and a wool blanket and woke up with the sleeping bag drenched. I have read other reviews with something similar happening with this product, but if you're lost in the woods in the middle of winter, you'll be glad you bought it

Lightweight Insurance

I carry this in my life jacket pocket. It can also be used with a light weight sleeping bag to increase its temperature comfort range and weather proofing. My biggest forseen use would be to get in this bag if I ever found myself floating in the open ocean for a small additional help in preventing the onset of hypothermia.

Small and lightweight to take everywhere

Found this to be a great gift for son who is attending college in the Adirondacks. Small and convenient for any emergency whether in the woods or stranded in your car along a back road.
