| I take this along on day trips during the winter when I plan on making it out before dark, but when you never know. If I have to spend an unexpected night in the woods, I want this along. It is so light and compact that I do not mind carrying it. | |

| Every hiker should carry this bivvy. This is so light weight and effective against the elements. Great to have in a vehicle in cold areas till help arrives. | |

| The product description should say that this is a vapor barrier and the user should understand the benefits and limitations of this product. The potential of this product for turning mild discomfort into a true hypothermia emergency situation is very great. The product is more useful in very cold temps and would make a very poor choice as a light sleeping bag in warm weather. The material is very fragile. Mine ripped on the first night. The mesh vent does not stay open and was useless. A drawstring closure at the foot would be a better design. Best use of ths product would be to use as an emergency protection for an already wet person--leave the wet next to skin clothing layer on--save dry clothes for when you have to get out of the bag. I will use this bivy as a ground cloth under my sleeping bag inside my tent. It is too fragile to use on bare ground for any length of time. I am rather disappointed in the quality of this product but would still recommend it for inclusion in an emergency kit. The "Sportsman's Blanket" is a better product for this purpose but is not as light or as pliable. | |
