Great Bed - holds air and easy set & takedown

I wanted a little thicker bed to replace the original mattress in an Queen Anywhere bed (no longer offered here). The original mattress was 9 inches and it moved around on the frame inside the cover. This mattress is 13 " and slides in snugly and when inflated does not budge. The queen mattress is rated for 500 lbs. and certainly adequate for our 400 lbs. for a weeks worth of bird camp and night time recreation. NiCad batteries are always a challenge. Read the instructions. It tells you exactly how to use the pump - don't over charge it. If you aren't going to use it for 90 days, you need to drain the battery completely. The car charger will operate the pump without a charge. Air mattresses also needs to be acclimated to room temp before inflating. If you have traveled in a warm car/truck for 2 hours and then throw the bed in 30 degree temps, it's not going to hold air well Remember 8th grade science - altitude and temperature affect air pressure. So throw the bed where you are going to use it, set up the rest of camp and inflate the bed last. If there is much swing in day/night temps, you will have to add air. It's probably not leaking, just adjusting to the air pressure. There is a rubber gasket in the fill valve that needs to be clean and properly in place to operate correctly. Make sure it is well seated and free of dirt and you will have no leaks from the valve. Lastly, I always buy the Cabela's replacement warranty with the airbeds. The normal return policy is great, but the extra warranty makes it super easy and never a hassle.

very comfortable bed

the bed is very comfortable, holds air very well, pump is very good and the battery holds it's charge for a long time I've had other air mattress before but this one has them beat.

The pump is nearly useless for home use

First of all Aerobeds are good blowup beds. The problem is the rechargeable pump. Unless you use the pump regularly it's nearly useless. It will not run, on demand, on AC power. The AC power is only to charge the pump and if you don't use NiCad batteries regularly they will go bad quickly and not hold a chard properly. The pump with this bed does work find, on demand, from the car cigaret lighter 12V supply. This would be a find setup if you take this bed in your vehicle but it does not come with the correct pump if you need to blowup the bed on demand using AC power. You need a different pump for that which is actually cheeper than the one coming with this bed.
