AIRE Tributary Tomcat Tandem Inflatable Kayak-Blue Reviews:

We are wrapping up our 6th troube-free season of use with our Tandem Tomcat and have been very pleased with its performance. The Tomcat just completed a week-long trip on the Main Salmon piloted primarily by my 16 year old daughter and her 11 year old friend, and they ran every rapid but Big Mallard, including the new Alder Creek and Black Creek rapids. This boat can easily handle class III-IV water in the hands of the right 16 year old. The boat can also be rigged with one seat for solo paddling, and it has made several Rogue River trips this way. The multiple lash points allow dry bags and paco pads to be tied in easily. The boat can be pumped up very rigid, and even after 6 years it will still stay rigidly inflated until you let the air back out the valve. No leaks whatsovever. The valves have been bombproof too. Overall, this has been a great IK, and for the money it is really tough to beat.

This is an excellent inflatable kayak. I have only had this kayak out on one trip but it was a wooded creek with lots of hazards and strainers. The durability of this boat is what impressed me, I ran this thing into rocks, trees, pile of jagged sticks, I was so sure I was going to puncture it several times, but when I finished there wasn’t even a scratch on it. Handling of the boat on flat water seemed average. But this could have been due to the fact that I was paddling the tandem model solo. During the class II-III portion the boat was exceptional. It responded well in rapids and crashed over waves and ledges with excellent stability. I am impressed so far and can’t wait to get it back out on the stream.

We're coming up on either the 5th or 6th year on our tomcat. It's been on more trips than I can count. Everyone liked it some much that most of my fellow boaters now own one as well. Short of a hardshell it's as good as it gets. User friendly and priced right. We've even got crazy and ran some big spring water with it, no problem.
