No rattle if you do it right

I own this rack but I bought it elsewhere and just saw that Dick's also carries it. It's built well and well worth the price compared to competing products. I see that someone has complained that this rack rattles. I've read the same complaint on other sites as well. Actually, if you install it correctly, it doesn't rattle at all. It comes with two bolts with shoulders. The shoulder fits into the receiver hole and AGAINST the side of the rack inside the receiver. When you tighten the nut, it's the shoulder of the bolt that pushes the rack to the side. The head of the bolt does not and doesn't need to touch the side of the receiver. With a 2" receiver, use the larger of the two supplied shoulder bolts and the larger hole in the rack. I suspect a lot of people think the large bolt doesn't fit properly, so they use the smaller bolt that looks like it fits better because it goes all the way in and the head touches the receiver like a bolt normally would. If you do that, the shoulder of the smaller bolt will fit INSIDE of the larger hole in the rack and not push the rack to the side like the correct bolt is supposed to. No matter how much you tighten the bolt, the rack will always have some amount of play to slide side to side and, yes, rattle.

excellent product for the money

love that the arms fold flat when not in use...its a little tough to pull the pin to fold it out of the way to open the rear hatch (whether the bikes are on or off its a bit sticklish)...it rocks left and right in the hitch almost like it is not the perfect connection for the 1 1/4" reciever...but it didnt loosen any of the nuts and bolts

Good bike carrier I would buy it again

Hitch was easily assembled and installed. I only have one bike and it carried it easily! However there is no way to actually lock the bike to the carrier. The bike is held to the carrier with nylon straps. If the bike is left unattended it can easily be stolen off the hitch. Except for this short coming it is a good value for the money.

Worth the Money

Fit is good but the tolerances into the receiver could be a little tighter. The materials seem to be of high quality so hopefully this will last a while. I've had this rack for two weeks and have had both bikes on it and the rack handles them fine. I would buy it again.

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

This great Bike carrier doesn't fit if you have a "big" spare tire like mine (255-75-R17) Even if you mount an adjustment to go further out, still you won't be able to open the trunk.

Great Product

Easy to install.
Easy to load and unload bikes.
I like the fold down feature so you can still open the back of the SUV.

Rattles

This rack is very nicely designed except for the receiver size. I have a 2" receiver, but the rack is smaller and won't slide in tightly. Too loose and rattles. I'm returning it to Dick's.

VERY POOR

This was mail ordered thru the store and I returned it 15 minutes after it arrived. Box taped, parts missing, and not the quality I was looking for.

2-Bike Mount Carrier

This was purchased as a Christmas gift for my boss. I do not know first hand if there were any problems. He seem to enjoy getting it as a gift.
