A good tent for the money

Rating:****
Used the tent with my son at a Scout outing. Went up rather easily with two adults and a scout. It is big and tall and somewhat awkward to pitch. Probably went up in 8-10 minutes. Lots of room and I could stand in the middle (I am 6'2") After the first morning and some moderate rain, a couple little puddles formed under the door. Not sure where it came from. Rest of the tent was dry though. I did not seal any seams. Strong winds all day long made this tall tent nearly collapse several times, but it popped back into shape every time and the poles and material held up to these fairly severe winds. For [$], I was pretty pleased with the tent.

Not bad

Rating:****
I've only used this tent once, we were camping at a state park for a weekend. Not a bad value for a car camping tent, fit myself, wife and dog with ease. I could stand up in it (I'm 6'6") so its fairly tall and roomy. Not sure if I would want it in a rain storm, but for what I bought it for it served its purpose. If weight and durability are what you are looking for go buy a good tent, but for weekend trips with friends its got a lot of bang for the buck.

Havent used it..but have set it up.

Rating:****
This replaces another more sturdy tent whose fly deteriorated. We car camp, and from the setup this seems that it will work. We havent gotten it wet, so this is a question mark. The fabric is lighter weight than the other dome, but shouldnt be a problem for our use. I dont think this tent is made for rugged use. It is easy to set up, except for the fly. I struggled with the fly by myself. Two people should handle it easily. This tent seems to be a good deal.

Good tent for the price

Rating:****
Have only set up the tent once to make sure it was in good shape. It was. You defenitly want to set it up before going anywhere as the directions are inadaquite. Tying the top needs to be done before seting up the poles. The little wire stakes seemed inadiquite. Other than that the tent was roomy, waterproof and stayed up in high winds without the quy ropes.

Good buy. Decent tent

Rating:****
Tent worked fine. Very easy set up. Can use freestanding, but modest winds will make tent walls buckle and sway this way. I like the netting on roof - which provides large skylight views of sky. This is a good choice if you're trying to save $$$. But I'm uncertain if tent and particularly the poles will withstand the test of time.

Ecomonical, quality family tent.

Rating:****
This is a ecomonical but quatily tent that is roomy for 4 people with room to spare for storing stuff in the tent, 5 people with less room. Head room is great for my 6ft 1 inch height. The only short coming is the poly plastic floor. Given the price, this is the compromise that has been taken.

Nice Tent!

Rating:****
We used the tent for the first time car camping. It poured and the winds were very flukey and we stayed dry except for a couple of spots that may have been condensation drip. Otherwise we and our belongings stayed dry and cosy.

Negative Reviews:

Lasted one use

Rating:**
I set this up in the backyard for a fun campout with two kids. Set-up was no problem. Wind and rain was a big problem. The tent blew away. It was empty at the time. It was fully staked down on all four corners in non-sandy soil. We caught it about 75 feet away. There was heavy rain overnight. The tent leaked bad. It was dripping everywhere. Not just floor seam leakage. We gave up in the middle of the night and slept in the house. I've never had any problems drying a nylon tent in a dryer - except for this tent. The plastic tarp floor deformed. The tent is a total loss.

waste of money

Rating:*
We purchased this tent for car camping. The second time we used the tent it rained and was a little windy. The rain fly leaked, the floor seams leaked and with the first gust of wind the tent actually collapsed. We had to stay in a friend's cheap tent and their tent worked fine, so it wasn't a huge storm. On top of all of these issues the seam ripped where the tent stakes in two locations. Not a very sturdy tent.

Wet, wet, wet

Rating:*
Used the tent for the second time (see review above) for a week long scout camp. All was well until an extrememly hard downpour that lasted a good 45 minutes. The floor seams leaked horibly and I lost some gear and a good bird book to an inch of standing water along the floor seams. The fly leaked through as well. Another night, a medium-hard rain found more leaks through the fly. I will try seam sealer; if it fails...will sell cheap!

Great, until it rains

Rating:**
Bought this specifically for car camping. Was not expecting the world's best tent but have been disappointed by leaking fly and floor edges in moderate to heavy rain. Still, it sets up easily and is otherwise a serviceable tent. Try sealing the seams?

Good price but bad in weather

Rating:*
I used this tent on a cross state bicycle tour. Twice it rained and twice my gear got wet. The second time the fly actually blew off. Thus filling the floor with water. I'm not too happy with it's performance.
Dino at Sierra Trading Post on 07/14/2008

Can't handle the wind

Rating:**
Needs larger rainfly hood at door and window, but most importantly lacks loops/grommets at upper corners for guy line attachment to keep this high profile tent from collapsing in the wind.
Old Man Camper at Sierra Trading Post on 04/24/2008

A Leaker

Rating:*
This tent is nice and roomy and will work well until the first drop of rain falls. Then, look out! It leaks from all directions.

Good bang for the buck

Rating:***
This tent works great overall in mild weather. When the rain hits, the fly does not cover the door zippers so it leaks.
