No Longer Shurflow, now Ambassador Marin

Once I got the old unit out, installation was fairly easy! The OE was very close and theb major pain was that the tube would not unscrew as it was corroded on? Not being a patient man, I tried the non violent method ( liquid wrench) which did not work! Next I got out my metal cutting blade for the Drummel tool and cut through the soft brass like a knife through hot butter! Due to the fact that the supply lines on the new unit being shorter than the old unit, I had to extend the water lines, so I needed couplings and then I did buy the plastic Shurflow connectors ( 1/2" barb and 1/2" NPT M screw on connectors! Well worth the $10.00 Kind of supprised they were not included in the kit since it says " installation hardware included"? The only installation stuff I saw was a small roll of plumbers tape? Next, it would have been good to know about the wall bracket when I was ordering this thing...also not included? When I contacted Ambassadors customer service via e mail on Friday, I got a prompt reply and they told me that a model was available with a metal hose as opposed to the rubber one( my OE had the metal hose! It would be nice for WM to let us know these are available, especially for the price we are paying for this unit....$200+ with tax! Finally, I was suprised that there was not more of a selection given how many heads have showers? Even just a little nicer sprayer on this unit would be a bonus! I will be experimenting to see if I can adapt anything to the end of the sprayer since I think it is a standard 1/2" connection!

Nothing leaked and so far I am thrilled with the volume of water !

Leaks

I had to replace the old faucet shower combo in my boat. This model is nice in that the hose hides away and the same piece is both the shower head and the faucet head. I thought the installation directions were poor but my biggest beef is that once I had completed the installation the unit leaked out of the shower head, both when I had the hot and cold valves turned all the way off and also when I had the water saver closed. I contacted Shuflo and they are sending me new cartridges for the hot and cold valves but they ae only doing so after I badgered them (they originally wanted me to uninstall the unit and return it to West Marine. I also think the water tubing is weak, if you buy this unit be very careful you don't damage the tubing while twisting on your water piping.

Overall a nice upgrade to the head.

This faucet was purchased in order to replace an outdated faucet/shower combo in our head. Our old faucet was of the two hole install style, while this new faucet has one hole in the center, so I purchased and shaped a piece of teak to fit on the countertop in order to cover over the original two holes and drilled on hole down the center. The installation didn't take very long and the faucet does look nice in the head. This faucet has a hose, which drops down into the cabinet not to be seen until needed, whereas my original faucet had the hose attached to the top and had to be coiled up out of the way. My only grip with this faucet is the water conservation button on the spray handle. The button is supposed to shut the water flow off on the handle while showering, but still maintain the hot/cold settings. The button does greatly reduce the flow of water, but doesn't completely shut it off; that is fine while connected to city water at the dock, but is not satisfactory when running from the onboard water tanks. Unfortunately there aren't many options when it comes to purchasing a shower/faucet combo these days, so you almost have no choice except to purchase this model if you need to upgrade an old faucet.
