I like them

First off i wanted to say these steps are made very well and are high quality. I only gave four stars due to the fact that they don't get high enough. I think for the price their should be one more step. I like getting around 20 feet in the tree and with three steps that is impossible. Also the stepping space needs to be wider, barely fits my hunting boots. But these steps are fine when wet which is a plus. You don't have to worry about them slipping down the tree even with the straps it comes with. I put them on a slick tree and they did not slip at all. Pull the strap tight and wrap it around itself and it will not come undone.

Good system

Just took them down from first season of use.
They were exactly what I needed for this particular tree that had a bend in it.
They worked fine.
Way quieter than my climbing sticks.
The system was necessary for my tree since a climbing stand or climbing stick wouldn't deal with the bend this tree had.
You need a lineman's strap to install them.

The straps won't hold the steps

I just installed the ladder on a tree and the straps on the ladder won't get tight enough to hold the ladder still. It flops around. I will admit the tree was big around but once I put ratchet straps on the ladder it firmed right up. I would hate to climb to a tree stand 15 feet up a tree using just the highly touted "strap system". Ameristep needs to include ratcheting straps to attach this to a tree. Then the ladder gets a five rating. It's easy to climb.

Rapid rails

step spacing is to close. can't get over 12 feet with these. however they nest to the tree quiet and sturdy. can only fit one foot on each step. much better than screw steps though.
