Great and lightweight

This is a great kit for backcountry activities. This(and all the ultralight kits) is NOT a kit to keep in the trunk of your car. This is made for people who like light weight things but still have all the things you need in case you get hurt. I have seen reviews on some of the other ultralight series kits complaining that everything is just packed in there and there is no organization. Well I am not sure if they really know what ultralight means, but ultralight means you cut out all unnecessary weight and only have what is needed. So in the case of an ultralight first aid kit that means organizational pouches. To help with a little organization you can completely unpack the kit and then repack it so you get an idea of where you are putting the different contents.
This kit has a little extra room to add some additional stuff. I added AMK's Blister Medic to the bag and it fits in with no problem. This helps out a little bit with organization as all my blister supplies are on the blister medic pouch so I can just pull it out.
This kit is for people who want a good first aid kit but don't want all the weight of regular kits. This kit is at least half the weight of its non ultralight counterparts. I would highly recomend this to backpackers and hikers who need a good first aid kit for shorter (a few days) trips.

I have seen some people complain about this kit (and the .9 and .5) not having any organization and things of that sort. Well I guess they don't understand that this is an ULTRALIGHT first aid kit. with all UL equipment you won't have any nice features like pockets for organizing supplies or anything like that. If you want organization you should look into AMK's Mountain Series. This kit is for someone who wants to have a nicely stocked first aid kit but doesn't want unnecessary weight from it. This is not a first aid kit to keep in your car this is a kit to put in your pack.
There is extra room to add some things that might have been overlooked. I have seen a few people mentioned adding more things for blisters. With this kit there is room to throw in AMK's Blister Medic into the outer bag. The advantage of this is all your blister treatment things are right at hand in a bag so you can just pull out the blister stuff(adding a little organization). There isn't too much extra room though, for example you won't be able to add a SAM splint but you can easily improvise splints in the backcountry.
Overall this is a great kit for people who want a light weight kit that still has all the essentials.

this kit is great for small adventures but is in-between sizes so it has some things but not a lot of other necessities. we have both the .5 and .7 along with a larger kit. I personnally like to have many kits that I can store in multiple locations to access quickly so buying this is more of an insurance policy. we added additional band-aids and some moleskin and more alcohol wipes. be prepared to do that but one gets a great start by getting one of these bags. this is worth the price if you are out and about and have kids.

Very Good Ultralight Kit

This is a very good pared down kit. This is not the keep in your trunk or garage in case of emergency kit. This is the small enough that you darn well better bring it on the trail kit - no excuses about bulk or weight. The duct tape is redundant for me, so I took that out. Saved a lot of weight there. Could use more and better blister treatment, added that. It's a kit, so you should personalize it a bit. Add a little, remove little or nothing. This plus the Personal Survival Pak and you're pretty good.

Does the Job

grabbed this to throw in for a trip out of state, and we were glad to have the benedryl and sting-ease. Package is nice and water tight and seems rugged enough to take somewhat of a beating in my carry on rucksack. There is just a little bit of spare space, I added a rescue breathing barrier and a pair of nitrile gloves.
hikecacheski at REI on 03/03/2013

I haven't had the need to actually use any of the components but this is one of the better put together kits I've seen. It is truly ultralight and watertight. I even let it roll around a bit in the crashing waves on a lakeshore and found everything inside to be 100% dry. This is a very packable size kit as well.

Has Been the Perfect Lightweight Kit

I've had this kit for about 3-years now. It has proven itself to be the perfect kit for my needs. Aside from being ultralight and waterproof it has just about everything you'll need on the trails. The only thing it really didn't have, that I wanted was blister care, but there is plenty of room in the pouch to add other items.
Packer X at REI on 09/09/2010

I have had this kit for a little while now and its great! Its not too heavy at under a half pound. My scale weighed it at 6.5 ounces. There is a little bit of everything in here. Take a look at my video below reviewing the kit to find out exactly what this kit includes.

Gowski at Backcountry.com on 08/27/2013

great for the basics

I've had this kit for years and just add/replace things as necessary. I go backpacking, hiking, fishing etc. and take this when I go. It has about everything you need for basic injuries and has rom to add things to the pouch.
KRHIKE at REI on 06/06/2012

good basic kit. I thought the .9 would be too big but now wish that I got it instead. I like to put other non medical items in the water proof bag so a bigger bag would have been handy for me.

Good Kit, Not AMK's Best.

The Watertight .7 Kit is a pretty good first aid kit. It covers the basic needs someone might have on a short outdoor excursion. As with all first aid kits I did do some customization of the kit.

The one problem I have with the kit is the organization. All of the supplies are essentially in one large pocket. There isn't much internal organization so I had to sift through the pack to find what what I needed.

While this kit is okay I highly recommend one with more organization such as the AMK Day Tripper Kit.
Yarp at REI on 01/01/2013

Simple, effective, waterproof.

The kit is simple and straightforward in content and does what it claims to do very well. It is not anything special, but gives you a solid kit in a small and light watertight package.
