Aqua Bound Sting Ray 2-Piece Carbon Paddle Straight Shaft -
You love to paddle—morning outings, day trips, weeklong adventures—but you’d rather not have a paddle that feels like a barbell after twenty minutes of paddling. Aqua-Bound made the Sting Ray Carbon 2-Piece Paddle with a carbon shaft and carbon blades for a lightweight feel hour after hour.

Features:

  • Cross-sectional shape provides strong bite with each stroke and means you can link strokes smoothly
  • Dihedral means the blade angles so that water flows easily off the blade during your forward strokes, which minimizes flutter
  • Two-piece design makes the Sting Ray travel-friendly

Nice Carbon fiber paddle, lightweight, strong, decent blade shape. AquaBound has been revamping their product line over the years and the longer shaped touring blades are now in the $250 price range. This paddle has a somewhat shorter blade style and falls along the upscale rec/touring part of the spectrum. It's a good paddle, and the oval shaped grip area is a newer feature that works well. Overall I wouldn't pay more than $150 for this paddle (6/12) but if you find it at that price it's a good buy.

My paddling speed for the same effort expended is 5% faster with the Sting Ray all carbon paddle. I've been paddling the same 5 mile route on a lake 3 times a week for 5 years and without exerting any extra effort I cut my best time by 5%. This paddle for $144 (after a 20% sales promotion discount) is light, comfortable, and sturdy.

Your service is great. I received the paddle in perfect condition and just when you said it would arrive. I have really enjoyed the light weight as I can paddle all day without fatigue. It comes apart really easily and then is just as easy to re-assemble. I think your company is terrific and I've referred you to many of my friends.
Thank you!!

I normally paddle with a fiberglass shaft but was loaned this paddle once and gave it a try. A few ounces lighter than the fiberglass and performed very well. If you do a lot of paddling it might be worth your money to step up to this paddle.

Great paddle, after breaking my Hobie paddle, I bought this one from Backcountry. It came quickly. It's strong and light, it comes apart easily and I would get it again in a flash. Paddling really is easier with a light strong paddle.
