Arc'teryx Cerium LT Hoody -

The Women's Cerium LT Hoody is a new insulating layer from Arc'teryx which utilizes a mixture of strategically mapped 850 fill down and Coreloft™ synthetic insulations to keep you warm as efficiently as possible. The goose down is stuffed in the torso and arms to warm your core, and the synthetic insulation is placed in moisture-prone areas (hem, collar, sleeves and underarms). It's the best of both worlds: compressibility and versatility. The Cerium LT layers perfectly under a shell or on its own in cool, dry conditions. Wear it to the zoo and you'll turn some heads (animal heads.. they know good insulation when they see it).

The Arc'teryx Women's Cerium LT Hooded Down Jacket is the lightest piece in the Cerium series, and possibly the warmest, too. The one-two punch of high-tenacity Airetica face fabric and high-warmth, low-weight 850-fill European goose down insulation is a knock-out when it comes to staying warm in cold and dry conditions. Backcountry touring along the Wasatch Front. Getting a bouldering fix on a cloudless January day. Strolling through dormant cordons in Burgundy. Whatever your pleasure, the Cerium LT jacket will keep you warm without being a burden, either on your back or in your pack.

Bigger numbers are fun when it comes to the lottery and down insulation. A higher fill-power down, like the 850-fill used in the Cerium LT, refers to how much space a single ounce of down occupies. The more space taken means more air is trapped between the fibers of the down. Trapped air creates a barrier between hot and cold, so warm air stays near you, and cold air stays away. Taking this logic one step further, if one ounce of a particular down takes up more space than other type of down, it stands to reason that you'll need less of the 'bigger' down to keep you warm, thus reducing the weight of your jacket.

Since untreated down doesn't work when wet, the folks at Arc'teryx put synthetic insulation in places most likely to get wet. The Cerium LT is not a raincoat, and if you see people building boats, you will get wet and not stay warm. Yet, synthetic insulation on your shoulders, collar, hem, and armpits can withstand a light drizzle until you reach shelter, without sacrificing too much warmth.

This superlight jacket comes with a stuff sack so your bag stays organized and the jacket is protected from pokes and prods that happen to luggage. The same down hugging your torso swaddles your melon, courtesy of the insulated low-profile StormHood. Two zippered hand pockets hold your keys and phone, trail map and candy, or your son's toys and a baggie of animal crackers.

Putting Down Where It Counts.
Arc'teryx Strategic placement of synthetic and down insulation has Coreloft synthetic insulation, that retains warmth when wet, placed along the hem, collar, sleeves and underarms-areas prone to contact with moisture. 850 fill European Goose down lines the core and sleeves where warmth is most needed.
Sealing the World Out.
Both the adjustable low profile down insulated StormHood and adjustable hem drawcord make sure the drafts stay outside, so you can do the same. DWR finish repels moisture so don't be afraid of being caught in light precipitation.
Backcountry Warmth.
Streamlined and lightweight, the Cerium LT down hoody is filled with 850 white goose down, intended to act as a mid-layer under a shell, or a standalone piece for cold, dry conditions. A three part sleeve moves freely and keeps a low profile.
Weight Savings.
Specialized construction: light, elasticized hem; three part sleeve; binding finishes and superior craftsmanship are the thoughtful attention to detail that allows the use of stronger fabrics that can stand up to everyday use. This is a piece you will want to live in.
As an alternative to down fill insulation, we also offer synthetic fill products, such as the Atom LT Hoody.

Arc'teryx Cerium LT Hoody Reviews:

Reviews:

This jacket is secretly one of those stupid-expensive massage chairs crossed with a child's concept of clouds, only it's disguised as a jacket! Clever Arc'teryx, very clever. This is the warmest and lightest thing I have ever owned, I couldn't be happier. Yeah, they're expensive - but after waiting for many years to replace my ratty old down jacket, I was very picky about which one I selected, and this is the best that fitted my specs on the market.
FIT:
The fit is very chic, at least in comparison to my last jacket. It shows off curves, but not in any sort of uncomfortable way. Highly functional, but also very cute, which are two words that often don't go hand-in-hand.
COLOR:
I initially got the "seaglass" color, but swapped it out for the black because the feathers show through the thin green fabric immediately and look like stains. I am a pretty messy kid, so owning something that already looks like I spilled all over myself doesn't really stack the odds in my favor...
POCKETS:
I was skeptical about it only having two pockets at first, but it really doesn't make too much of a difference, since putting it on I haven't felt as thought this jacket is lacking anything - the pockets it does have are spacious and keep my hands obnoxiously warm.
BOTTOM LINE:
If you're on the fence about making this investment, hop off of that fence immediately and get into one of these Ceriums! Lots of high-end brands seem like a total hype to me, but when it comes to this particular jacket, you're not going to have any regrets.

I absolutely love this jacket! I am 5'4 and weigh 110lbs and I went with a size small. I usually fit into XS but have a longer torso so need a size small to cover my whole stomach so I don't get any wind draft up my jacket. The size small still looks really good it is just not as tight around the waist as I would like it to be. This jacket is amazing and keeps me very warm. I have been camping and climbing with it and on the really cold mornings it has kept me warm. If i need extra warmth I will wear a merino wool base layer under it or ever another jacket.

Diana Jenson at Backcountry.com on 10/29/2013

Purchased for my wife returning several other competitive (similar fill, style) but less expensive jackets due to defects. She loves this jacket. Fit is true and athletic/trim - not too puffy. Weight and compression to warmth is incredible. She wears around town in winter and in colder temps. Could be used as middle layer in really cold/wet weather. Material is tough - dog jumps up on her and not a hole or tear. Seams, down quality, fit, hood and fabric are typical Arc'teryx -- quality and everything thought through. Worth the extra money. Expect it to last much longer than some of the other less expensive down jackets out there.

marp798156 at Backcountry.com on 01/18/2014

I gave this as a gift, but from playing around with the jacket I could tell how nice it is. 850 down is extremely warm, yet the jacket isn't too thick or puffy. Could wear this under a shell, or your outerlayer while skiing. The DWR coating is water resistant but if you're going out in a storm make sure to grab a waterproof shell of some sort, this jacket won't stay dry in a downpour. All fits into a stuff sack in the left pocket. Compresses super small and is great for traveling and backpacking. Highly suggest this jacket to anyone.

AWESOME!

I have this jacket in Nighthawk and it is gorgeous. It also fits really well. Normally, my puffy jackets are a little short in the sleeve, but this one is just right. When belaying, I put my hood up over my helmet and I am a picture of happy warmth. It also stuffs down into an itty bitty little stuff sack and it is crazy light. Can't think of a single negative thing to say about it.
