Dry in December in Olympic National Rainforest
We hiked for two days and I had these pants on all the time except in the tent. The only time they leaked was when we walked through hip high water and I didn't have gaiters on. They are so lightweight that I can't feel them on, and they are superarticulated at the knees for phenomenal range of motion. My only problem with them is size - an XS fit and a S is too big (I'm 5'4" and 125.) The XS fits even with a baselayer and a softshell layer underneath!! But...I have to lie down and really shimmy them over my hips. For this reason acts of nature in the rain are also more complicated. These need a stretchier waistband. Then they would be perfect.
These are the best rain pants!
I bought these for an upcoming trip to Antarctica. I will be running a marathon there and I needed some gortex pants that I could run in. There are not a lot of options for gortex running pants. Although these aren't labelled for running pants they work perfectly. Luckily as soon as I got them we had a horribly rainy day with temps in the upper 20s. I went for a run and stayed completely dry. My legs werent restricted at all and I never got hot/sweaty. I'm feeling much better about my Antarctica trip now that I have these pants!
