Arc'teryx Classic Beanie Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

I've had this beanie for over a year now and it's held up fantastic. It hasn't stretched out for me at all. It's constructed extremely well and the fleece liner around the inside of the lower portion is a nice soft and warm touch. Overall the hat is fantastically warm.
My only criticism is that there is slightly more space than I would like between my head and the top of the beanie, but not all heads are the same... and compared to most hats I've tried... it looked the best on me.
I will agree with others that the logo is a bit obnoxious on this thing... to the point where I actually find myself turning the hat so the logo is more on the side than right up front. For some reason I don't feel mine is as large as Tam's photo looks, but either way... it should be like half the size. If you're the type of person that can't stand being a walking billboard... you will not like this hat.

I bought this beanie in Cocoa Bean to replace my acrylic Arc'Teryx hat that looked exactly the same, but was red (lost it). Just like my old one, it's super warm, covers my ears snuggly (that's hard to find for me), and looks good. It is a bit itchier where the wool creeps out below the inner headband and touches my forehead, but it hasn't pilled like my acrylic one did. My only wish is that I could get this in red!

This is the best fitting beanie I have ever owned... when I first put it on I was simply amazed... sounds strange to get such pleasure out of a beanie, but damn! for me, no itchy problems, and the fleece head band lining is great... After a season of use, I did notice some pilling of the face fabric from all the google on/offs... but still showing lots of use ahead! Get one!

My GO TO hat on a cold, cold day. Others may have found it itchy & scratchy, but I didn't. There are finer wools out there, but with the fleece lining, I didn't itch at all & the combination of wool & fleece make this beanie warm indeed. This beanie is VERY warm & works on the coldest of days due to the double layering of fleece under wool.

I was worried reading some of the reviews, because I, too, have a bit of a big bubble head, however, the beanie fits perfectly just over the earlobe (although I have short, thin hair). If you have lots of hair it might not come all of the way to your earlobe. I don't find it itchy, and it is super warm wool. Typical Arc'teryx quality.

using this beanie in afghanistan in around 20 deg temp. works great. feels great. snug fit the way i like it. i had the Toque beanie before and it was too big. I'm considered a medium head size, so this is a great beanie. if you have larger head consider the other model. the material and workmanship is top notch

Overall a nice wool hat with a fleece liner. It breathes reasonably well with vigorous activity. It will keep you warm when wet provided you are not in moderate to strong winds. Fit is a bit tight for me and I wear a 7 3/8 in a standard hat. A good but not stellar hat.

Well, beanies are beanies. That being said, I like this one pretty well. It has a good fit with no bunching up in weird spots. It is definatly warm. The fleece lining lessens the itch factor, but I've noticed if its pretty warm outside it still itches a little. It's worth the cash.

I use this thing all the time when it is cold out now. It's light weight yet very warm. Don't think i've ever had one this warm and comfortable at the same time. I plan on buying more of these in the years to come

I bought this for my husband for christmas, and he LOVES it. Its the only one he wears now. It fits perfect and is nice and warm but not too hot. Just right

Negative Reviews:

The hat fits tight. So if you have a big head, stay away. the inner line of wool material does wrap the entire hat, just enough to cover the ears. I would imagine your head could get cold in harsh conditions. Lastly, being an Arc'teryx product (expensive) I would imagine the product being in pristine condition... nope. The top of the beanie started to unravel with only a couple times of use.

Hessmobile at Backcountry.com on 10/23/2013

one site fits all... I guess this is true if your head does not measure 60cm (comparable to a size L in Giro helmet). Too tight for me...

I am giving this product 3 stars because it is "Adequate for the job".
This is the warmest, breathable, highest quality beanie that I can find anywhere and I've tried on a LOT of beanies. The wool is not itchy, I do understand why others think it is itchy but this hat is not old school itchy wool, it's just not the super super light wool either, which is a plus in my book because it is so durable. It does not feel plush and soft, but it is certainly not itchy. It does not bother me at all, but I won't be mistaking it for silk either.
The hat does is extremely well thought out. The top of the hat is not lined with fleece and does and superb job of breathing. The fit is tight so your ears stay close to your head and warm. There is a band of fleece that aids in keeping your ears warm. This hat is comfortable to around 15F, and it will keep your ears from getting frostbite if the temperatures fall lower than that.
This beanie also does not shed fibers onto your head like other beanies do. When you take it off you do not need to worry about what the beanie left behind on your head and in your hair.
I would give this product 5 raving stars and purchase 5 hats to make sure that I always have one even after it has stopped being produced ..... except that I never want to wear the thing. I am not a walking billboard, the logo on this thing is ridiculous. If you buy this hat you will literally have the Arcteryx logo stamped on your forehead. Some people think that's cool, I don't.
Although I would otherwise pay $50 for this beanie due to its construction functionality and quality, I cannot bring myself to wear the thing because I feel like a fool with a gigantic logo stamped on my forehead.

I purchased this beanie because it looked cool and I can't really afford anything else Arc'teyrx sells. At first I was totally bothered at how itchy this was but after soaking it in hair conditioner to soften the fibers it actually isn't that bad. I already have a few great beanies but I'm a big fan of wool. The problem is that this is old school itchy wool. That's why it's billed as a "classic" wool cap. At any rate it is very warm as all wool usually is and as long as you know what you're getting you won't be disappointed. I gave it 3 stars because as with most of Arc'teryx's stuff it's a tad bit overpriced.

Jormar6 at Backcountry.com on 12/23/2009

I have a good number of beanies and quite a few of them Arc'teryx. This beanie isn't anything special; standard materials & standard feel. But it is a warm hat, the wool is just a bit itchy for me, I would recommend a different Arc'teryx beanie unless you are partial to wool.
