The Gamma AR succeeds where the Gamma SV fell short. The Gamma SV had a stiffer Power Shield material in the shoulders that kept the arm holes and shoulders from conforming to your body (creating areas for wind to sneak in and a general sci-fi villain profile). This vest has Power Shield 2-way stretch on the shoulders, which keeps the fit and armholes close to your body for a more effective wind barrier. as a top layer over some merino wool makes a perfect system in moderate to cool temperatures. If you're moving a bit you could go even colder with it. The close cut means the AR would easily fit as a midlayer under a shell as well. Just keep in mind this is not a puffy insulated vest, so if you're standing around in 30 degree weather you will get chilled. | |

| I gave this to my boy before he headed across the big pond to spend a few months in Scotland. He stayed dry and warm and didn't cheat on me while he was there. I deemed it a success. | |
