I have suffered from shin splints all of my running career. I have high arches and whenever I would tell salespeople at shoe stores, they would put me in some kind of motion control shoe, which would be fine for low miles. But invariably my shin splints would come back after longer runs. I finally found some info on the web that said if you have high arches you shouldn't wear motion control, you should go for the most cushioning you can stand and just let your feet have a bit of play in your stride. So I got the Nimbus 9 because it was the most cushioning I could get on my foot for under a hundred bucks. These shoes are like running on pillows. So far, two long runs and no shin splints. The shoes are loud, especially the white/gold ones, which seem to be the way of high end running shoes these days. It's a bit embarrassing actually. If Asics would put out something as understated and cool looking as their trail shoes with this cushioning system it would be huge, I think. The extra cushioning does come with a bit of extra weight, but this is a plus in a training shoe, I think. It may make you a bit stronger and faster for your racing flats.

Love them...but - These are hands down the most comfortable shoes I own. I wear a 10.5 wide and the toe box is PERFECT on these. I bought these shoes about 3 months ago and have enjoyed working out in them nearly every day. But about 1 month ago (so after 2 months of use) one of the layers of mesh on the top of the shoe started to rip. The top layer has stayed intact, but I suppose now that the under layer is ripped, it's just a matter of time. Also the tongue on one of them is splitting at the top. I have no idea how this happened unless I just got a defective pair. I do nothing that would rub this spot enough to make it split. These are so comfy, and despite the issues I'm having with them I think I will try another pair when these just fall apart. For now they still function fine and provide great support and cushion.

I'm going to miss the Gel-Nimbus 9!!! After trying on a multitude of shoes (thanks Zappos for continually mailing me shoes!). I FINALLY found happy feet with these shoes. I have a wide forefoot with squared off toes, a high arch, and a narrow heel and I have trouble finding shoes that fit all parts of my foot well. These do! Interestingly enough, I have a pair in a size 9 and a pair in a size 9 wide, and they look/fit EXACTLY the same. At any rate, I'm VERY sad that this style is discontinued. I tried the Gel-Nimbus 10 and HATED them - they rubbed my pinky toe because the toe box isn't as full as the Gel-Nimbus 9. The only complaint I have about these shoes is that when I walk on gravel, the soles of these shoes feel a bit slippery when I try to get traction. I figure it just helps build my core muscles!

Worth the money - These shoes are specifically for my Plantar Fasciits...which is severe heel pain. I put these on before stepping out of bed in the morning, before I get my kids out of their cribs, and my pain almost goes away. I can't walk flat footed, so I am in these all day long chasing my kids around the house. I also wear them on the treadmill about 35 minutes per day. Very comfortable. They hold your heal in place. They are designed so your foot won't over pronate when you walk. I took out the inserts that came with them and put in my orthotics. I am sure they are still comfortable without the orthotics. I will always believe Asics are the BEST. I am someone who has had every kind of athletic shoe there is. These are the best.

I love the Nimbus!! I love my new ASICS Nimbus running shoes! I previously have bought the Gel Kayano's and by reading the description of the Nimbus (more heel cushion), I felt that they may be better for me and I was right. I ordered the same size--7.5 and they fit perfect. I have started training for a marathon in them. In fact, I'm sure I'll be buying a few more pairs this summer. I love that Zappos has different colors than the stores around here and the shoes came so fast! I think the price is very competitive with stores, considering tax and gas prices. If you are a runner, try these shoes!

Fantastic Shoe!!! I purchased this shoe for workouts. I have always worn New Balance in the past, but they discontinued my style and I couldn't find a suitable replacement. This shoe is fantastic. I wear it for spinning, weights, and aerobic classes. The shoe is very supportive especially around ankles-yet padded enough for comfort. The shoe is lightweight and has adequate webbing so foot can get air. The size was perfect-order your regular shoe size. The style is attractive (gold color). I liked so much I ordered an extra pair for a back-up, which I only do when I love a shoe. Worth the money!! As always, the service from Zappos was terrific!

Perfect Shoe!! I have another pair of Asics running shoes (Style: Gel-2130) and I love them. They are perfect for cardio, aerobics and overall gym use, however I have an old injury to both my right knee & ankle. Those shoes just didn't work on the treadmill and so I did research on lots of shoes and found the Gel-Nimbus 9. These Shoes set my foot perfectly for each step I take, have great cushioning for running impact, and fit my feet exactly the second I put them on. Plus, they keep my knee & ankle from becoming sore/hurt. I highly recommend them to everyone!!

So comfortable - I planned on starting to go walking nightly and my old New Balance shoes were hurting my feet. A friend of mine noticed how all my shoes seemed to wear a certain way so she told me about these Asics and how they help correct people who "pro-nate". These are the most comfy shoes I own. I swore I'd only wear them to exercise and not for things like yardwork, but they're so comfortable I wear them 95% of the time. The questionnaire asks if you could fit orthotics in this shoe. I have no idea as I don't use orthotics.

Nice run! These shoes are the best running shoes I have ever purchased. Recently, I got back into running and these shoes provide the support I need as well as breathability and comfort. They can be worn for long periods of time without any discomfort. These are some of the first sneakers that I have worn that didn't get removed the second I walk through the door and relax. Also, I am a type 1 diabetic and they provide all of the protection my feet need and do not cause any blisters or support concerns.

Asics NIMBUS - Asics Nimbus are the only running shoes for me! I went to a running store in 2001 to have professional advice on what fit my troubled feet. The Nimbus was unbelievable! I wore them the next day and ran a 10 miler. My feet felt great! Since then, it's the only running shoe I would consider with my feet. I am a believer! You won't regret this purchase! The shoe tends to run small-I buy a 1/2 size bigger than my regular shoe size to fit my orthotics comfortably.
