Asolo Drifter GV Reviews:

I bought these boots for day hikes as well as the Kilimanjaro summit. These boots are great. Waterproof tested - I?ve walked through small streams, hiked in downpouring rain, and my feet always stay dry. They took me 2-3 hikes (or about 10-20 miles to break-in). At first the ankle area was a little stiff, but broke in nicely. Also, the shoe allows flexibility while still remaining very hard (I can kick rocks and not feel like I?m stubbing my toes ? and I don?t feel jagged rocks or stones through the shoe). I would suggest wearing tall socks with these boots, since if you wear ankle socks, the upper part of the boot might chafe your leg if it is against bare skin (I made this mistake once, and learned to just wear longer socks). The boots along with a pair of heavy socks kept my foot warm on the summit of Kilimanjaro (with temperatures around 0 degrees). And I?ve also worn these boots in the humidity of the Northeast summer with light socks (you get pretty sweaty feet, but it?s not uncomfortable). Overall a great, versatile boot once you break it in.

I've been wearing the Asolo Drifter GV for more than 2 years now and they are still going strong! Aside from light wear to the sole and a few scuffs to the toe guard they show no evidence of the abuse I've put them through. In addition to regular hikes and light backpacking, they endured daily wear for 5 months in Africa. They are also my go-to shoe any day it rains or snows. When I purchased the Asolo Drifter GV I also considered the Scarpa Kailash GTX Lady, but found the tongue and ankle to be too padded which prevented me from lacing them tight enough for a snug fit...of course Zappos accepted the return without any hassle. Thanks Zappos! The Asolo Drifter GV fits true to size. I have a slightly narrow foot with high arch and wear a size 8, except in running shoes where I usually wear an 8.5, and I purchased a size 8 in the Asolo Drifter GV.

Zappos has been so good to me this past month! I purchased a pair of hiking boots 5 months ago that did not hold up this fall. They were already leaking and bruising my toes with the missing insulation. I chatted with a csr and she not only offered to take back the failing boots but offered a full exchange for these boots. I purchased this pair 2 years ago that really suited me and lasted well into the 235 miles I put on them. I am so happy to have this pair in my possession again. They are totally waterproof and kept my feet warm in -20 while snowshoeing. They held up to logs falling on my feet and kept my ankles supported while hiking rough terrain. I only purchased a new pair because I put a hole threw one of them with metal pole. Great boots!
