Asolo TPS 535 V -
The Asolo TPS 535 V embodies comfort, durability, and support in a traditional all-leather hiking boot. Asolo, known for their combination of craftsmanship and innovation in partnership with Vibram created the TPS sole, which incorporates three shock absorbers that correspond with the areas of the foot that receive highest impact during activity.

Lining and Layers:

  • Chambrelle lining wicks interior moisture to prevent sweat and blisters

  • Dual density midsole provides stability on uneven terrain
  • Asolo Triple Power Structure midsole features a dual-density PU molded structure and ensures stability while reducing shock

Support and Cushioning:

  • Vibram Triple Power Structure (TPS) sole provides cushion and durability

Traction and Grip:

  • Vibram rubber outsole features effective, self-cleaning lugs to keep you gripping the muddy, sandy, or rocky trail

  • Stiff arch area in the outsole limits twisting and bending to prevent injury and provide a reliable feel on steep trails

  • One piece, full grain leather upper. Can be waxed for improved weather resistance, but still comfortable on hot days

  • Tough nubuck leather upper sheds puddles and doesn't wear out during rocky scree crossings

  • Lite 2 anatomical footbed cradles your foot in its natural shape so it doesn't take weeks to break in the boot
A dozen or so miles of rugged, roadless wilderness can't be safely traveled with just any shoe. The sturdy leather Asolo TPS 535 V Backpacking Boot provides a grippy, stable platform for hauling a heavy pack deep into your own private patch of earth. The tall collar reduces ankle rolls while descending into lush, waterfall-riddled valleys, and its rigid arch stabilizes your steps during rocky mountain traverses.

THe Asolo TPS 535 V boot has an outsole that incorporates three shock absorbers that correspond with the areas of the foot that receive highest impact during activity. Gripped with a molded rubber outsole produced in conjunction with Vibram, the balance of the outsole has self-cleaning lugs designed for optimum performance on varying types of terrain.
Developed for the demands of backpacking and high level trekking. Footwear that will allow you to tackle the most tricky ascents and descents in confidence!
A combination of craftsmanship and innovation, with the best quality of leather and other materials, ensures a superior standard of durability, performance and protection.

Asolo TPS 535 V Reviews:

Another superb Asolo product. Another home run for Asolo. For 15 years, I've been using Asolo products and have yet to be disappointed. The TPS 535 is no exception. Superb quality, light, and just the right amount of stiffness to provide excellent support for either day hikes or multi-day backpacking trips. As usual, the Cambrelle lining makes for great ventilation but the boot performs just as well in moderately cold climates. Water resistance was actually far greater than I expected. Right after purchasing them, I went on 4 day trip up around the Bishop area, slogging through some marshlands where my boots were submerged ankle deep in water and mud. Not one drop made it's way in. Pretty awesome! The sole looks far bulkier than it feels but provides superb grip on various types of terrain and when the going gets sloppy, they do a great job of shedding mud. There is a nice springy feel to it and the Aso Brake worked wonders on descents. PLEASE NOTE: Contrary to what was stated by other reviewers, break in period varies greatly according to your foot, not the boot. For me, there was no break in period. Every Asolo boot I've ever purchased was used on a hike right out of the box. Sure, quite risky but it's certainly quite a testament to the consistently high quality Asolo puts into their products. I also noticed another bit of misinformation from some of these reviews. With regards to the US size listed on the boot, as is typical with European shoes, Asolos run larger than indicated. In other words, if you wear 10.5 US-try the shoes labeled 10, NOT the other way around as previously indicated. Has been this way as long as I can remember. Bottom line, if you want a solid, relatively light boot that can handle pretty much anything you can though at it, get these boots NOW!!!

I did a lot of research on hiking boots before coming to the conclusion that Asolo is the best boot for the best price. I live in the high desert of Santa Fe, NM, so moisture is not something of an epic issue, such as the NW region of the U.S. So I opted for the 535 over the Gortex 520 model. However, I did apply a nice coating of Sno Seal to the boots before I wore them. Using the hair-dryer to heat up the leather and the BeesWax has really helped the boot to keep my feet dry in the snow. This past Christmas break, i pulled in 3 cords of wood, tromping through snow, kicking branches and hauling heavy logs up to the trailer. These boots did absolutely fantastic through this rough treatment. At first when I put them on, the tongue seems a bit tight, but after they broke in, they were very comfortable, and I didn't even give a second thought to the protection my feet needed while hauling huge logs up a mountain side to the trailer, through lots of snow and mud.
The shoes fit true to size, and are very comfortable, so comfortable that you forget you have boots on your feet. I'm very pleased with this purchase from BackCountry. They had the best price on the web, and the shipping was quick.

I bought this boot in 2004 and it has made it through every summer and hunting season until 2012. This is one tough boot if you take care of and condition the leather properly. I let them get too dry on a two week excursion through the desert on foot and the leather cracked and split. I was heart broken to see it happen but for the thousands of miles I put onto these boots in 8 years, they were worth every penny. I am replacing them with the same model and have committed my old pair to being by new work boots (they are still in good condition, just no longer water resistant due to the leather cracks). I have a narrow foot and have not found a boot that fits better and has the same support this one does. They are on the heavy side of backpacking boots, but if you want support and a bombproof boot that will last you years, this is it.

Iv worn the same pair since 2006, now considering a resole (not because of rubber failure but upkeep). I have conditioned them regularly which has allowed the success of the leather thus far. They have been used from 14ers in CO to the desert in Moab. They have stabilized me up 8000 meters in the Tatra Range in Poland and Slovakia to the Whites of NH. Fine Piece of equipment.

First of all I have always been treated well by the people that work for Zappos. Their customer service people are wonderful when ordering and receiving products in a timely manner. These boots were a gift for my son who has trouble wearing some shoes and boots because of pain with hip replacement. These boots seem to make him feel less pain when walking with his cane.

These boots are very tough and I actually like the fact that they don't have Gore-Tex. They'll breathe better than a boot with Gore-Tex and the full grain leather has been plenty waterproof for my needs. I just treat them with Nikwax a few times a year. They're overkill for hiking without a pack, but I love these for backpacking.

Howdy! I have been a Walmart work boot freak till now... 4 a year... Listened to my brother in law for years and finally gave in.... The TPS 535 V is the boot... Warn water resistant no charge for extra laces... Just and awesome boot... I am ordering another pair as we speak.... Great support and traction...

great boot, foot area was stiff at first now seems to be getting softer, the ankle support is still very stiff this will take awhile o work in the boot itself very goodlooking boot and made to last and with the lifetime guarantee you will never buy another boot again

I cannot say enough good things about this pair of boots. By far the most comfortable pair of boots I have owned. With a light pair of wool socks my feet stay plenty warm in the cold weather.

These could well be the best fitting pair of boots I've ever owned. True to size and width, extremely comfortable right out of the box. They are a little heavy though but I'm very happy with them.
