Atlas 12 Series Snowshoe -

Whether you're heading up a Search and Rescue crew or you just like to get lost in an occasional whiteout, the Atlas 12 Series Snowshoe is ready to serve as your go-to big-mountain foot gear. The 12 series offers a variety of features oriented towards steeper and deeper treks so you stay on top of the snow and on top of your game.

This is Atlas' most aggressive 12-series binding yet. With a lightweight Speed-V frame that maximizes flotation while it minimizes deck interference, the 12-Series Snowshoe is designed to give you total mobility, even when it gets deep and the terrain gets extra-rugged. The turned-up tail provides a more-natural feel as you move. Atlas' new Wrapp Pro binding provides comfort and easy entry. The Duratek decking is extremely tough and lightweight, and it sheds snow so you aren't carrying pounds of backcountry along with you. The tenacious stainless steel Zodiac toe crampon digs in when the going gets tough so you can access terrain that would have never thought possible.

Frame:

  • Lightest, strongest aluminum frame available
  • A proprietary Atlas shape, the sturdy aluminum V-Frames track straight in deep snow, and the tapered tail pulls less snow as you step forward, saving your energy. The turned-up tail of the V-frame rolls easily into each step for a natural gait.

Weather and Wind:

  • Stainless steel Zodiac toe crampon deeply penetrates even the firmest snow

Traction and Grip:

  • Stainless steel Holey-I toe crampon and stainless steel Advanced Aft traction provides a secure grip ascending , descending or traversing.
  • Serrated traction elements, for sure footing on the most technical terrain
  • Weight-activated, StabiLock Rear Traction optimizes weight distribution

Straps:

  • Wrapp Pro Binding features FlowTape silicone straps that glide through low-friction buckles and smooth buckle release for easy on-off use.

Suspension:

  • Spring-Loaded Suspension (SLS) patented design suspends the snowshoe close underfoot so it can move freely with its intended articulation, absorbing impact, flexing naturally side-to-side, and allowing deeper crampon penetration into the slope.

Features:

  • Rugged Duratek decking
  • Heel lift bar makes ascents much easier.

Atlas 12 Series Snowshoe Review:

Reviews:

Great snowshoes

I bought these as an alternative to my older Tubbs Mtn 30's; although the Atlas shoes are larger, they are much lighter. The binding excels during installation, but can be fussy during removal. I did have one binding strap loosen, but this was on a HEAVY bushwhack over several miles. Crampons are good and are lower profile than the Mtn 30's, which allow for a more natural (heel level, not down)gait without sacrificing traction. Float and balance are excellent. A note to those reading all reviews: after many years working in bike/ski/outdoor stores I would sometimes come across customers with unrealistic expectations of snowshoe float. Float is a function of many variables, to include technique, snow quality, terrain pitch and user weight!
