Bury your tips amongst a fresh downpour of the soft stuff then bust out in a controlled float atop the ultra-fat bodied freeride Janak telemark skis from Atomic. Designed for deep snow flotation and backcountry excellence, the lightweight Janak's magnesium cap technology and Densolite core provide the right amount of energy transfer and dampening for stability atop of harder surfaces as well. Specifications based on size 183.
The Janak is designed for big daddies with big boots who want an Ultra-FAT ski. Compared to last year´s Tele Daddy, they have an all new mold with a top sheet of magnesium. The magnesium creates a damper ski with a rounder, smoother flex while eliminating any hinge points. They generally work best in the soft stuff, where it shines, floating over everything. Being as wide as it is under the foot, it won´t be as good in tight trees, or bumps, but with a Turning Radius of 21(183cm.), in the open backcountry or on resort groomers, this ski will rock. They sport the TourCap Beta construction, with a Texalium reinforcement, and a Densolite core. Janaks carve surprisingly well on icier groomed runs as well. Don´t be afraid to down size this ski especially if you weigh less than average, and remember big boots are a must to give you the leverage to "work" these skis.

Named for a mountain in Nepal, the Atomic Janak telemark skis are light for the climb and wide for the powder or crud that comes your way.
Prepare for float, float, and more float with the Atomic Janak Telemark Ski. At 99mm underfoot, this lightweight powder-hunter takes you to the steep and deep without weighing you down. The Janak's magnesium construction, smooth flex, and lightweight strength provide smooth planing while still allowing you to lap all your buddies lugging heavy fatty planks. A rigid torsional flex gives you plenty of strength for bulletproof snow and the occasional jaunt in-bounds while the moderate side cut helps you lay down tight lines.

Year after year the Atomic Janak gets rave reviews. It has the classic Atomic edge hold in wet manky snow; the smooth flex keeps you floating in the deep fluff and and an easy turn initiation in cruddy choss. Fluff, choss, or mank, skiing this trustworthy ski means no more bad days. To top it all off, the light weight means you can skin up for just one more run.

Fascinating ski | |

When they say "float" they mean it. They also hold a great edge on ice. For such a lightweight ski, they deliver in all conditions. I use these with Dynafit Vertical TLT, and Scarpa Spirit 4. I love the set up. I'm new to AT but a long time alpine skier. I've never skied on anything this wide, but my body doesn't know the difference. They excel in all turn shapes. This ski is very light weight, very lively, will take you anywhere you'd like to go, and bring you back. Thanks to these skis, I'm actually happy I lost my job. For the price, this ski is a steal. | |
