outstanding visibilty

These lights were installed on my charter boat and can be seen a long ways off to keep others out of my way and me out of there's. If poor light out they light up the bouy's going in and out of the channel.

This unit exceeded my expectations!!!!!

This unit exceeded my expectations. Installation was straight forward and easy. Unit looks great at night and no more bulbs to replace or corroded lamp contacts to deal with. LED is the only way to go.

Attwood Navigation Lights

This new LED bow light really updated and improved the bow area of my 31 year old sailboat. I plan to install similar units for the stern and mast lights.

Great Side Nautical LED Lighting

Nautical lighting has looked better. Much clearer than the old legacy style with lower wattage draw.

Small and neat, but no good

Replaced my old Hella dual color with the dualcolor LED by Attwood one year ago. The lamp is small in size and has a bright light. The reason why I bought the lamp was the ability to switch position of the red and green LED which made it possible to mount upside down in the bow of my sailing vessel. The lamp has only been in use when motoring. Using a tricolor in the mast top when sailing. Now the green sector of the Attwood is gone after maximum 30 hours of use. Would expect more from a lamp which is rated for 50,000+ hours use and have got 10 years warranty according to Attwood. Their customer service is also poor with no answer after more than one week.

Beter quality found in the dollar store

I purchased the 3800 series stainless side lights. Thakfull West Marine has a good return policy.
My review and ratings are my opinion and not good because it took a lot of effort just to make the bulb fit tightly. If you pay $44 each for a small plastic boat lights, you would expect to get marine quality. I have found better quality bulb fit in flashlights in the dolar store.
These are nuch lower quality than a $24 universal trailer light system and you get both sides. Worse yet with the trailer lights you get everything and it will last at least 3 years. These will start coroding the first day.My life exptancy is 1 year. Never again.

Poor design

In order to install, the lens cover must be removed to locate front mounting location. The lens covers do not come off easily. You are to turn the lens counter clockwise to remove. The factory says you need to push down and turn (not in instructions)On a 80 degree day I heated the lens, and only then was I able to remove the lens. The hole required is 1 1/8 to accept the bottom of the unit. I modified the bottom tab, so only a small hole is needed for the wires. Over designed without practicallity in mind.

Be prepared to replace them....

Apparently I have the earlier version, that appears to have the separate power supply and separate LED. Have now had to replace both port and starboard lamps....unexpected....thought these would last forever...
The new version on port has gone 2 years, but in replacing the starboard one today, I note the wire is bare copper--not even marine wire once you get past the tinned end. If you put these on, be prepared to replace them. I got a warranty replace on the port, will do the same for the starboard and have a spare for both sides....

Port light out in less than a year

Installed on a small Amanzi inflatable, less than a yr old, lights used 3 times and the port light is out. 10 yr bulb?
Only resolution is to send light back to manufacturer, no field support avail from local marine parts outlets. Dissappointing.
All that said, I did have very professional conversation with an Attwood customer service ,representative. We will see how quickly they can turn around a replacement so I can install.

Poor Life for LED

Purchased for durability and dependability at night on small boat at premium price. After 6 months Red light has failed. Cause is LED lamp has cracked and split open from inside. Beleave that poor manufacturing technique is cause of failure.
Note that my boat is stored indoors and has had very little use since LED light was installed.

Corroded After 2 Years In The Tropics

These might be okay for a trailerable boat that's covered all the time, but they do not last on an ocean-going cruising vessel. Cheap plastic construction with a stainless steel cover. Mine corroded after 2 years of summer torrential rains and slamming to weather in the tropics. Water entered into the "Closed LED" making them inoperable.

Easy but good for only a year.

I found the same problem as Jay. Port, red LED failed after 1 year.

Neutral Reviews:

nice looking works great.....for a year

Not required on a 12' boat, but I fish at night in a bay, so for safety I bought a bow light that I thought would last. The red light went out after less than a year. Upon inspection of failure, I can see where the led was not sealed correctly from factory, allowing h2o (and corrosion) into the led chamber causing failure. 10 yr warranty helps, but the 2 hr drive back to WM doesnt really make it worth it. Do not depend on this product. I guess I paid for the warranty, not a quality product as I had hoped.
