Best I've used

Better than the two or three all-in-one styles where the toothpaste shoots up through the brush bristles I've had over the years. Those eventually clog and can be hard to fill, and to get out old dried toothpaste. The Aurelle is somewhat bulky and a tad heavy for what it is, but acceptably so. The brush head is rather smaller than I prefer but acceptable. The toothpaste tube is rather small also, maybe 5ml.
I normally use this with tooth POWDER. The powder goes farther, does not dry out, does not glue the threads of the container shut and does not have to be put in a TSA "3-1-1" bag.

Some tips: To remove the bottom (black) cap leave the toothpaste tube in the handle. You'll have better grip to unscrew it. You can wrap a rubber band around the handle for better grip. Be sure and clean the cap threads (I use a cotton swab) as frequently as possible to avoid getting them glued shut. A little vegetable oil on the threads helps, too. Be sure and let the brush air dry as often as possible. Disinfect it from time to time because it will inevitably have to be put away wet. I soak it in mouthwash. Also wash & clean the brush cover on the inside as it stays wet and stuff will grow on there.

Perfect KISS (Keep It Simple, Silly!)

This is a brilliant design. I have seen similar toothbrushes that automatically put paste on the brush when you squeeze them, but they are designed to be disposable (which I hate - why buy something just to throw it away?) This little brush solves that problem. When the toothpaste runs out, just refill it (just be careful not to OVER fill it, otherwise the paste will end up on the threads making it difficult to open again). When the brush dies out, just get the replacement heads from REI. Brilliant! I got the pink one for myself and the blue one for my husband. We use different toothpastes, so it is great that we each have our own already inside the handle. Every weekend we are either traveling out of town or camping somewhere, and I have only needed to refill the paste once in 3 months. I also love the flat bottom since I can set the brush on the counter standing up instead of horizontally, keeping the brush clean and germ-free until I pop the cover on and put it away. This is perfect for travel! Just grab the toobs and go.

Compact and handy

All the negative reviews seem to be from a few years ago so there might have been improvements made since those reviews.

When I got this I tried it out first. I found the bristles to be soft and comparable to "higher end" tooth brushes. and very comfortable to use.

I like the idea of having tooth paste in the handle, this makes it nice and compact. you could carry this OR a tooth brush of similar size and a tube of tooth paste. This product can slip easily into a little space in your bag.

When I filled the tube up I had no problems. A tube of Crest screwed in easily and filled up fairly easy as well. Haven't finished to tube yet so not sure how it will be to unscrew it but when I looked in after filling there didn't appear to be any tooth paste in the threads so I am not too worried.

If you are concerned about space, but still want to clean your grills this product is for you.

BEST toothbrush ever!

Love, love, love this product! Bought one for everyone I know for Christmas. Made in Canada, so totally guilt free. This is the lightest, most compact, but still very useful camping toothbrush I've found. I like it so much, I use it for regular travel as well, and even keep one in my work case for everyday use.I love that I can use my own toothpaste with it, although the threading in the back doesn't fit every tube of toothpaste out there. Crest seems to fit perfectly. Colgate and Tom's of Maine not so much.My only qualm is that it's not quite long enough to comfortably reach my back teeth,, it's not intended for every day, all-the-time use. I get my back teeth on a daily basis with my regular toothbrush at home, and this is great for travel and camping!Durable (lasted for 8 months with weekly use no problems), practical, and affordable!I promise you, this is not a solicited review, I just have a hard time finding products that are so fantastic - and this one really hits the mark!

Very good product

This is the best solution that I have found for traveling with my preferred toothpaste (which does not come in travel-sized tubes). Refilling it is fiddly - you have to be sure to empty it before refilling in order not to leave any air bubbles and to clean the threads before re-screwing the cap on the toothpaste tube.
Also, in my opinion there is no point in getting the extra heads. Eventually the threads on the tube will become gunked up and the tube will become creased from use and you will have to replace the entire product.
But in the meantime its use on the road is great. I have gone through two and am getting another.

Minimalist's dream

This is a very compact toothbrush with a refillable paste tube stored in the brush handle. The tube is very easy to refill from a conventional toothpaste tube: Just screw it onto the big tube and push out the paste, no mess, no air bubbles in the small tube. There is enough paste for 8-10 uses. Case is rigid enough as not to worry about an accidental paste squeeze-out spill (been there!). The brush is not state of the art, but it gets the job done while you are on a bike or backpacking multi-day tour.

Must have for backpacking

This clever and convenient little tool goes in my school backpack, as well as my "real" backpack. It makes more sense than carrying a travel size toothpaste tube with a travel sized toothbrush. Plus, you can fill it with your toothpaste of choice, which is a big plus considering travel sized toothpaste varieties are limited. The brush seems higher quality than any travel sized brush I've used, and you can buy replacement heads at REI for cheap. So, If you love backpacking AND love your teeth, do yourself a favor and grab one of these.

Love It!!!

I use this product where ever I go. Im in the military so it is great for the field. I was in Panama for 3 weeks and I didn't need extra toothpaste. When I'm home I don't go anywhere with out it. It is always in my purse or backpack. It is great for college students, outdoor nuts and soldiers. :)

Clever & functional

Brush, case, and toothpaste in one piece. Long enough to reach back teeth. It doesn't fall apart, like other break-down toothbrushes. The refillable tube means you can start each trip with a full tube. The replaceable head allows you to have a fresh brush.

Good camping/travel Toothbrush

Innovative little design. Beats what i was using before for traveling. I like that you can use your own toothpaste with it. Wouldn't use it everyday but it is what it is.

Negative Reviews:

Good idea, in theory

This product is a great idea, but for me I found it's execution lacking. I first got it and filled it with toothpaste and began using it for trips. It works great in this respect, toothpaste and brush both together in a compact package and ready to go. Then I ran out of toothpaste and refilling it was such a headache I think I'll stop using it. Apparently some of the toothpaste worked it's way down around the end cap threads and basically turned to cement. The cap doesn't give you much to get a grip on, and I ended up having to use the pliers on my Leatherman to get enough grip to break the seal created by the toothpaste/cement. I think someone with arthritis would have a very difficult time with this end cap configuration. Adding toothpaste was a bit of a chore as well. So far, I haven't seen any toothpaste tubes that screw into this product correctly. Inevitably, I end up wasting some toothpaste and making a mess trying to get the refillable tube filled. All in all, it's a good idea but one that could stand some improvement.

Good concept, bad bristles

I have invisable braces and need to remove them before eating, then brush and replace when finished. I ahve to go everywhere with a toothbrush and toothpaste. I was excited to find such a neat sleek combo.
In reality - the brush is very stiff and very dense. The bristles quickly went flat and as it is so dense it was hard to dry.
Also takes a lot of coordination to hold on to all the parts when used in a publc bathroom with questionable counters.

Not favored by your dental hygienist

I saw this toothbrush and was very excited and bought it immediately. When I brought it home and opened it, I was extremely disappointed. The toothbrush bristles are very hard and stiff. This is the exact toothbrush I steer my patients away from. They will brush off your enamel (what you tooth is basically coated in) and leave you with a lot of dental work to be done. I was very disappointed by this product, I would never use it or recommend it to anyone.

Good Idea but Poor Execution

I bought this for camping because I figured it would be nice to have my toothbrush and toothpaste in one nifty container. When I got it I was initially very pleased with it. Sure, it's a little harsh but it's not made to replace your toothbrush at home. What disappointed me was how cheap this was made. The plastic housing broke the second time I used it and now the cap on the toothbrush doesn't stay on well.

I was very excited to receive this toothbrush and wanted to test it out before using it on an adventure. GOOD THING. I put the toothpaste in and screwed back on the bottom cap. When I squeezed the tube to dispense paste on the brush, the bottom came off and shot toothpaste all over my hand.

I think the idea is fantastic but the result is a cheaply made design.
Restless Raven at REI on 03/03/2010

Poor quality ruins the function

As noted by another reviewer, this item is cheaply made and breaks easily. As soon as I put toothpaste in it and squeezed, the bottom cap blew off. Nice idea, but poor quality ruins it.
