New for '08 in the season's hottest color... white. Matches perfectly with the flood of white hubs, rims, bars, and stems out there. Same big braking power as before with reliable, silky-smooth cartridge bearing lever pivot.

The Avid Code Disc Brakes lets you stop your downhill rig faster … so you can feel confident riding faster. These powerful brakes have a sensitive side too: sealed bearings in the lever pivot gives you fantastic feel, and the ability to adjust exactly where your fingers are when the brake pads grip allows for predictable brake performance.

All mountain stopping madness!!!

You want to stop while riding anywhere? These babies will do the trick. I run a Code 185mm on the front of my all mountain (and all hill - all trail and all road) bike and WOW! 2 fingers is all you will ever need! The modulate great, work in all weather conditions and have the added benefit of looking really cool.

Feel the POWER | |

There are a lot of people/reviewers out there that have claimed the Code brakes have too much power and little to no modulation. I however feel like those reviewers aren't going fast enough!! The brakes are extremely powerful 4 caliper brakes, it is because their intended use is for DH/FR, where the idea is to bomb down the hill and launch off of stuff...I love the power these brakes provide and feel that the modulation, while will never be as nice as elixirs/juicy's or similar brakesets, is pretty good for the power you are getting. The peace of mind knowing that I can truely commit to 1 finger braking and still pin it is worth its weight in gold. Bottom line, they are the best brakes I have ridden and highly recommend them!

Dont grab too hard | |

These are by far the most powerful brakes I've ever had they kick the crap out of any other brake on the market as far as sheer stopping power is concerned. 1 Finger is all you need, and it can still put you over the bars if your not careful. The adjustment on the lever is very convenient for pad contact. The only slight downside is that they are one of the heavier brakes, but on a DH most people are not very concerned.

Grabby! | |

These are a DH specific brake for sure! I had to run a 6 inch rear rotor to not just immediately lock the brake up. The modulation is ok, but not amazing. The power took a little bit of time to get used to. After getting tossed over the front when the front just locked up a few times, I finally got used to them. I rode them for two seasons and they did the job but needed new bleeds and pads relatively frequently compared to my old Hayes or my new Saints.
