Great performing V brakes
Love these brakes. I have tried SD 5 before, although they modulated well and were super quiet, I wanted a little more stopping power.
I was not dissappointed with the SD 7! Immediately I felt more stopping power, firmer and smoother overall lever feel (which I'm suprised since the arm design is very similar to the SD 5). They can be a little noisy at times, but nothing like howling or squealing. They do not modulate as easily as the SD 5, possible since the 20R on those are a softer compound. But, paired with the SD7 levers with the adjustable leverage, it helped that department a lot. All in all, I am very pleased with the performance of these brakes, am glad I paid extra over the SD 5, and will definately go with them again if I build another bike with V brakes.
Another thing I noticed is how easily it was to get the tension between the arms right on the money which has not been the case with lower end Tektro, and Deore level V brakes.
Great Brake system. before hand i had stock v brakes, they were the avid single digit 3 brakes or the avid sd-3 brakes. when I upgraded to these i had better braking power than a friend of mine who has some cheap hydralic disc brakes... granted i keep my v brakes tighter than average. IMO great brakes, however i used them last summer and moved for college, took my roadie and havent been using my mountain bike, so durability wise I wouldnt know.
