Backcountry Access Dozer Hoe Shovel with D2 EXT Blade Reviews:

Reviews:

I have not used this shovel to dig into an avalanche and hope I never have to. However, I have used it a few times this season to dig out my snowmobile when I got stuck. I got to say this thing is awesome for moving a lot of snow FAST with the hoe feature. The initial setup is quick in either orientation. I have found that it can kind of "stick" when switching between hoe and shovel and vice versa but not bad. I've had to chop into some pretty solid wind blown snow and the hoe worked really well for this. I would highly recommend this for snowmobilers for digging out.

Great shovel; awesome hoe. Moves alot of snow quickly. Highly recommended. Set up/assembly and reconfigure very quick and intuitive. The second handle at the blade makes for ergonomic and efficient use. The time you save moving more snow more than makes up the few seconds it takes you to set up or convert. But with any tool used in life or death situations practice before you place yourself in an environment conducive to use.
I bet we see more of these hit the market.

I really didn't think the Hoe mode was going to make a difference with shoveling but after I used my buddy's Dozer I had to have one. You can move a lot more snow compared to a traditional shovel and its sweet for digging pits. You can sweep/drag the snow away in one motion, which conserves energy and moves snow more effectively.

I just got the Backcountry Access Dozer Hoe Shovel, and it is awesome. It has all the features of a normal avy shovel, large durable metal blade, extendable handle. It also has the ability to attach the shovel to the handle to form a hoe, which is great for moving a lot of snow fast. This thing is versatile and awesome!
