Cold Couscous Salad

I first noticed this on Backpacker's Pantry's site. The perception based on site art work is that this is a quick lunch sans boiling water.

Re-hydration takes 40-45 minutes at sea level & doubles every 5000 feet.

At 2000 it took well over an hour. That said, we were in a bivy camp high up with no water supply. I hade 1 litre to last the night & morning walk to different site & water. The Couscous rehydrates with just over a cup of cold water and the one pack made enough for a cold supper in warm weather & a quick breakfast in the morning.

I will use this product again in the future but will add the water before hitting the trail in the morning, seal the pouch & double seal in a 1 gallon freezer bag and carry upright in a pich on the pack. By lunch time it will just right.
