Backpacker's Pantry Cheddar and Bacon Mashed Potatoes Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

Great mix. Cooking couldn't be easier: just add a cup of boiling water, mix in separate container well, and cover for 13 min. Great instructions set for higher elevation camping. Add an extra 1/4 cup if you like potatoes mushier, they come cook nice and thick; really hearty.

The mashed potatoes are awesome, and the cheese; ahhh, little pieces melt when you cover it. So good.

Only reason for 4 instead of 5: The bacon, albeit tasty, can be a bit tough. More akin to jerky. *BUT* that may be because I was starving and only waited 8 min haha. Nice sized little squares.

Overall I was very pleased with my purchase. Completely exceeded my expectations.

These turned out nice. I had no trouble with hyrdation. I would agree that the the 1/4 cup makes a thick dish and adding a ounce would hurt if you'd like. Overall makes a good side but could be eaten by one. I plan on getting again.

The amount of water called for in the directions seemed to be inadequate so I had to add more after cooking. Other than that, great as a side dish to my ribeye!
