I bought these boots as a gift for my teenage daughter who had worn out a pair of Magnum style Bates boots that had been purchased at an Army/Navy Surplus store several years ago. I was a bit unsure of these boots at first because they are not as rugged in styling as the Magnums. She loved them! They are still a tough boot but had a sleeker more stylish appearance which she liked better.
I love Bates. This is my 3rd pair. This is my 2nd pair of Ultra-Lites and they are awesome. I wear mine every day and do a lot of walking and light running with no problems. I also wear my 8" tactile but like the lighter ones more. Great for riding.
I have been wearing these boots 8 days a week since February 2011. I wear them as uniform for light duty walking, hours of standing, and also heavy walking on concrete floors. They have just worn out and I am buying a new pair today, on sale!
Good fit size was correct. They rub just a little on one side by the zipper but a heavy sock takes care of that. I would recommend. Good product.

I bought these boots because our department supply store stopped carrying the brand that I wore for 10 years. These are the worst boots that I could even think about. It could be that the other brand that I was used to set the bar so high, but these are the most uncomfortable boots that I have ever worn, and I live on a farm and wear boots every day, so I know a little about boots. They remind me of a cheap pair that I got at a big box store one time. They may be good for someone that sits most of the time, but are horrible for someone that has to walk a lot.
