Ropes are pretty important to climbers. As it happens ropes and dirt don't get along very well. Luckily there are methods to clean a rope like a rope brush. Run this baby over your rope while the rope is dry to get the dust off, and again under water to really get a deep clean.

Beal Rope Brush Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

Minus one star only because the price seems a little high. This did a super job cleaning my well-used climbing rope. My rope had a few couple-foot-long sections of black grunge on it and I was concerned the dirt and muck would start working its way into the sheath if I didn't clean it. The Beal Rope Brush was easy to use-- just twist it onto one end of the rope, hold your rope under water (mild soap optional) and start moving the brush back and forth. I used it by moving the brush in one direction for a few feet, then reversing direction going over the same section of rope, and then once more reversing direction, so each inch of rope got brushed over three times. Really easy, all the black gunk came off, and the sheath looks like new again. The coil of the brush stretches out as you're running the rope through it to clean (no problem), but then reforms its nice compact coil shape with just a little firm push once you're all done.

I keep this in the bathroom so it will be there when my rope needs a bath. It brings the color of my rope back from under the aluminum oxide and gritty, sandy dirt. When I am done cleaning my rope there is a greasy, black bathtub ring that takes more than average scrubbing to clean, and enough sandpaper like grit on the floor of the tub that makes me wonder if it will clog the drain--that would otherwise be eating the sheath of my rope. The cleaning process causes me to carefully inspect every inch of my rope. I feel better about my rope and have a renewed sense of confidence in it after a good cleaning with this brush.

My rope was so dirty that after just one flake my hands would be black! I decided it was time for a good cleaning session. The brush was really easy to use; twist it on, and rub it back and forth underwater. 20 minutes later my rope looked brand new! (And it gave me a pretty good shoulder workout!) Awesome product. Get it and keep your rope lookin' spiffy!

I've used it several times, its solid, won't break and does a very good job cleaning. The advantage of using this is to safe time by have less of a snake nest after cleaning your rope and it does a good job brushing it. It won't damage your rope and will make it clean in lesser time.

This makes cleaning your rope much more effective than by doing it by hand. I was able to get my rope looking almost brand new after a few passes in the bathtub. I'm not sure how good the durability will be after many uses but it worked really well on my first cleaning.

I used this on my 9.8mm Petzl Nomad. It's a pain in the neck to use and it'd definitely over priced but it gets the job done. It'll leave your tub FILTHY but I suppose a shop sink would be more appropriate.
