Bear Archery Apprentice 2 Package Reviews:

Great Value, Awesome Performance, Incredible Staff

This bow is being discontinued after January 2014, and the clearance price is a great deal, providing even more value to an already great package. I actually purchased this bow for my daughters, who will eventually grow into it, but for now they are content with their Bear Brave III bow. In the meantime, unbeknownst to my wife, the bow is for her to use, even though she was not too excited that I purchased the bow in the first place (she actually rolled her eyes at me, can you believe it?). However, once I got her to the range to try it, I think she got hooked. She won't admit it, but she really had a great time, and she is looking forward to more archery outings with the family. The bow is super flexible and easy to fit/tune to smaller frame shooters. Moved 2 screws and a few turns of the limb bolts (no more than 6) and I was able to set it up for my wife in less than 5 minutes. Although a complete novice, after a couple of arrows, she was easily getting 2 inch groups at 15 yards. Set at a 24” draw and even at the lowest draw weight, this bow is still quick, driving the arrows into the 3D foam targets deep enough that it required some effort to remove them. If she or my daughters ever get closer to the 60# max draw weight, this bow will easily take out smaller game like turkey. This bow has a very smooth draw and good back wall, has very little-to-no vibration when shooting, and is fairly quiet given that it does not have a string stop or other vibration dampener. All in all, if you don’t need the latest and greatest (i.e. the Apprentice 3, coming After January 2014), this bow will grow with a smaller archer and has everything a novice needs to get started and even hunt. I definitely recommend buying one at this price before they are gone. One last thing... the bow had the correct clearance price tag on it, and it also had a Cabela's bucks promotion tag which was apparently no longer active. Not a real big deal, but before I knew what was happening, the Cabela's staff owned up to their mistake and honored the expired promotion. They earned a customer for life.

Daughters Christmas present

I wanted a bow that my 10 year old daughter could use and grow with. She is on her third bow. After much research I chose this bow. So far I can see nothing wrong with this bow. The help with set up and tuning this bow was top notch at the Kansas City KS store. I would definitely recommend this bow.

great bow for youth

Got this bow for my son for Christmas. He is 8 years old. Set it up with 16 inch draw and 20lb pull. He loves it. I was amazed at how hard it shoots.
