Benchmade 551 Griptilian G10 Special Edition Knife - Straight Edge Reviews:

No Brainer Benchmade Knife Purchase

OMG this knife is the best. First off it has Benchmades highest Grade of Steel for their knives. S30V. The G10 Grips are awesome, Look great and really make it hard to subject this knife to an everyday carry. I didnt buy it for Everyday carry especially now. Its a Collectible knife without a doubt. The sorta neon Green standoffs make the knife look that much more awesome. The Axis Lock mechanism is what you would expect from Benchmade. Perfect. The Clip is not the Painted Black clip it is the Anodized style so it wont get all scratch up. I am surprised these are still available as of 12-10-13. The Griptilian is an every use knife includeing Tactical in my opinion. REI sent me my knife with out a doubt brand new in a large box so the Blue box would not get damaged. A+++++++++ to REI. Get this knife while you can its only available here at REI. remember S30V Blade Steel. Once you see it you will want every knife to have it.

Excellent reboot

This is an awesome remake of an already great knife. Grips in general are the flagship benchmade every day general work horse. This knife is even more so, addressing to of the most numerous complaints; The cheap feeling handles, and difficulty to clean out. The G10 turns this knife into a knife nut's dream, eliminating the cheap clack and feel of its plastic counterpart. The pillar column design of the back spacers makes the knife very easy to clean. Another review said s30v is benchmade's best steel, it isn't. They have offerings in M390, CPM M4, and S110V which are better, S30v is an excellent steel, however. You'll probably need a quality knife sharpener to fully utilize the steel's full potential (IE nothing the local hardware store carries.) This knife is an excellent user knife that will perform any task a folding knife is used for admirably.

All Grips Should Be G10

The green and black G10 is an awesome look, and the green standoffs complete it. Opening and closing is butter smooth, and the axis lock is rock solid. S30v steel holds an edge, and mine came hair shaving sharp. If you're undecided on this one, pull the trigger. It's a showpiece and/or a workhorse, whichever you need. A great piece of American craftsmanship and engineering.
