Excellent small paddle

I bought this paddle for my 8 year old daughter (almost 9) for her first kayak. She had previously tried my 12 foot Necky kayak with a heavier adult paddle and still wanted to continue kayaking. I bought her a 9 foot kayak and the Bending Branches Splash paddle.

This paddle gave her a smaller grip for her little hands as well as the proper length (shorter) for more power in her strokes. The blades are big, almost the same size as the adult paddle which gives good thrust per stroke in the water. She is even more excited about continuing kayaking now that she has the proper gear for her size.

200mm is also not all that much smaller than the shortest adult paddle. This could also be a good paddle for a short or petite adult. The shaft narrows down just a little so the diameter is smaller and easier to grip for someone with smaller than average hands. This really helps reduce fatigue over time.

This is a great paddle and light weight. I have already recommended it to friends with children interested in kayaking.

Great for my 50" tall daughter

My 9 year old daughter managed her 10' perception kayak with great ease, a lot of which had to do with this paddle. I can't believe what a difference the right paddle made.

Great for 6 yo

Bought the 180 cm paddle for my 6 yo son. He is just shy of 48 in tall and this fit him well. He had no problems handling the paddle.

Great value for a youth sized paddle

I bought four paddles for a youth paddling program. It is important for sports equipment to fit the users so I'm glad Bending Branches makes these.

Just what I wanted!

This is a great paddle for my 6 year old. It isn't too big or heavy but it is still quite sturdy.

A durable economy child's paddle

This paddle was too heavy for my 6 year old. I ended up buying her a more expensive and lighter paddle. As she grows older, she will grow back into this paddle though. A difference of a couple of pounds can be huge in a child's paddle. Make sure to pay close attention to weight if you are looking for a paddle that they can use comfortably all day!

okay paddle

A bit heavy. We liked the Werner sprite better , but it is more expensive. The BB is a great paddle for the price.
