Berkley Gulp Sand Eel -
All the advantages of soft plastics and live bait wrapped up in one revolutionary new product. After nearly 20 years of extensive research using expert chemical engineers, fish behavior specialists, bio experts and top professional anglers, Berkley introduces its new line of Gulp! Saltwater Baits. Molded using a 100% all-natural compound, these baits release 400 times more scent than standard scented plastic baits. Fish can detect scent from Gulp! baits from distances that even live bait can't match. And since they look and move like the real thing, fish simply can't resist them. 100% biodegradable plastic-free construction means they are completely environmentally safe. Highly durable to last through multiple strikes. Rig these baits like real sand eels because they look, feel and smell like live sand eels. The rapid scent dispersion attracts fish from a greater range so you get more strikes per trip. Per 6.

Speckled Trout on Gulp

This past week on North Florida Gulf Coast New Penny Sand Eel was the best thing going. I caught several trout before my friends gave up and tried the Gulp Eel. They liked it as well. I have fished the Gulp line of shrimp, worms, sand fleas, mullet and crabs and caught fish on all when everyone else was just wading around. Only problem with Gulp is everything eats it, you will have bites as soon as your gulp hits the water from pin fish to tarpon.

Works great

Very effective on a variety of species in the surf in Mid-atlantic; however, they are not very durable and get ripped up by only a few fish. At that point they are hard to keep on the hook right for proper presentation.

Negative Reviews:

I caugh a heck of alot more fish AFTER I switched FROM using these eels. I give it 2 stars only because this is the first time I've used these sand eels, and perhaps I didn't fish them effectively. Otherwise I would have given them 1 star. I gave them at least a good hour worth of trying. I did catch plenty of fish after ditching the artificial eels. So the fish were feeding. I'll give them another try in different conditions. I used these for surf fishing off the Texas Gulf near Galveston. Reds and trout were biting at the time. Disappointed.
