Berkley NanoFil Uni-Filament Fishing Line -

The ultimate line for spinning reels, Berkley’s NanoFil Uni-Filament Fishing Line delivers the ultimate in casting and sensitivity. Not a monofilament or braid, NanoFil Uni-Filament is the next generation of fishing line featuring unified filament technology which molecularly links and shapes hundreds of Dyneema® nanofilaments into unified filament fishing line. And since Dyneema nanofilaments are stronger-than-steel, NanoFil has a thin diameter and is incredibly strong. This advanced construction process also makes NanoFil Uni-Filament easy to cast, exceptionally sensitive and virtually free of memory and line tangles. NanoFil is optimized for use on spinning reels, and its ultra-thin diameter may dig into baitcast reels during hook-sets.

Beyond braid and monofilament, this next-generation fishing line casts farther than any other Berkley line. It’s made of gel-spun polyethylene woven with hundreds of Dyneema® nanofilaments that are molecularly linked to form a uni-filament that’s stronger than braid, yet smooth as monofilament. Dyneema fibers are nearly frictionless for shooting off spools and cutting through the air with little resistance, delivering unparalleled long-distance casting accuracy. Its zero-stretch performance eliminates kinking and spool memory, while offering premium bite-detecting sensitivity. It also features an incredible strength-to-diameter ratio. Highly abrasion-resistant for long-lasting durability. Made in USA.
Available: 1-, 2-, 3-, 4-, 6-, 8-, 10-, 12-, 14-  and 17-lb. test.
Spool sizes: 150-yd., 300-yd., 1500-yd.

Innovative & Dependable

I bought the Berkley Nanofil months ago, to pair up with one of my walleye cast-jigging rods. Personally, I love it, but that's not to say there are no issues with it. Let's start with the positive though. It does everything it is supposed to do very well. The strength is awesome, and it is without a doubt one of the most sensitive lines I have ever used. With the smoothness I did see a huge difference in its ability to stay unaffected by the environment; cutting wind and current. Unfortunately though, after using the line a while you will notice that it gets "line twist", but doesn't act like line twist cause it doesn't make your jig spin. It's just there, and it doesn't seem to effective usage or performance of the line.

Pinpoint accuracy

I used this in the Puyallup river and this stuff EASILY casts all the way across with half my usual weight of 3/4 ounce. I was able to really dial in my casts and pinpoint the location to within a foot or so of the opposite bank. Really consistent coming off the reel. If you follow directions on the label on what knots to use you won't break off unless you're REALLY stuck. I had two breakoffs out of hundreds of casts but they were because I was using the wrong shape weight. Switched from cannonball to snubber style and had no more breakoffs. So if you are looking for almost double the distance and great accuracy, get this line.
Once you are used to it you'll LOVE IT.

Longer casts, good hook sets

You can cast farther with lighter bait -- downside is when fishing shore -- distance must be learned anew. Have issues with knots holding -- use union knot -- have been adding a couple of clinch knots on top -- line seems very good overall -- strong, good resistance to wear --

Negative Reviews:

I have used every braid on the market. Nanofil cast like a dream but breaks like a nightmare. KNOTS ARE A PAIN IN THE FOURTH POINT OF CONTACT! Memory? Looks like barbed wire. Maybe the three fishing trips were not enough to "break in" the line. On the fourth trip I just took the Nanofil off, threw it in the trash bag and spooled with 832. At least the white color doesn't fade.
