Big Agnes Flying Diamond 8 - 2 Room - 8 Person Tent Reviews:

Pretty Darn Nice

This is a family tent for 3 of us. The small room with the divider unzipped fits one of our queen air matresses, and the other room fits the other with plenty of room for gear and to walk in and out of the tent. Its roomy.

We used it last weekend around 5000 feet in Arizona, outside temp was 90 or so, it must have been 130+ inside with the fly on during the day. Darn near choked us it was so hot.

At night, with the front and back of the tent open, it cooled down quickly. When the sun came up in the morning however, holy cow, it was hot very quickly. I suppose most tents get warm quickly, unless completely shaded. Could be good in the cold.

Bought it with the footprint, uses color coordination to help line up, made setup a breeze.

Poles are nice, the bad is leaves plenty of room and is divided for the poles, fly, and tent itself.

The only element I don't like is the weird vestibule stake out... I suppose you can tie it up to a tree, but we don't use hiking poles, and I'm not sure how well that would work anyway, so we just kept it rolled up.

With the fly off, it has lots of vents... if I wasn't expecting a storm and didn't care about privacy, I would have taken the fly off. Would have been perfect.

I'd buy it again, and I would recommend it. It was the best 4 season tent I could find for my family.

just got it

Just got it. Set it up a couple times just for practice and to let the kids run around in it. It set up real easy, instructions were very clear. Carry bag is a great design, set up instructions are permanently attached to carry bag which is nice. Initial reaction is that is is much bigger than it looks in the pictures, also lighter in weight than I would have thought given it's size, and lots of pockets to store stuff. Wife, two kids, two dogs, probably bigger than I needed. Easily fit a few more people with gear in there. dont forget to get two additional poles to keep the front of the fly up. I also own a moss titan and would say this is comparable in quality and construction
