There's nothing I love more than a jacket with "LT" in the name (with the possible exception of a lot of things, like my parents, my dog, my.... well, maybe the LT thing comes in 3rd). I always try to pack as light as possible so I appreciate it when a jacket is tailored to my needs. The Black Diamond Dawn Patrol LT Shell is a good example. This mid-weight soft shell is made of water-repellent StretchWoven nylon with a lean, athletic fit. The hood is adjustable and helmet-compatible, the internal media pocket w/port is mp3 player-compatible, and the pockets are hand-compatible (believe it or not). Overall, the versatile Dawn Patrol LT is you-compatible.
Catch the sunrise on Cardiac Ridge without waking the slumbering Yeti or inch along the ice in Maple Canyon in the Black Diamond Men's Dawn Patrol LT Softshell Jacket. The clean and simple design belies this jacket's toothy technicality. Stretch-woven Schoeller fabric and Nanosphere DWR technology take away the weather without getting in the way of your midwinter moving mojo. Lead pitches, belay in nippy breezes, or tour through a light dusting in this sleekly simple, versatile softshell.
Soft nylon won't rub your arms raw when you're just wearing a short-sleeve tee underneath and slips over slim-fitting baselayers with ease. Whether you're raising your arms in victory atop the summit or reaching for a pole-plant, the stretch tech helps the jacket follow your every move without argument. Techy treatment turns nylon into a durable barrier against water, oil, and dirt. While getting under the hood of your '90s SUV might challenge the Dawn Patrol's resistance, weather short of a snowstorm won't bother you. Keep your cranium covered with first a helmet and then the hood when the breeze picks up. Hook-and-loop adjustable cuffs keep the sleeves anchored in place or let in a little fresh air when your wrists warm up. Plenty of pockets provide private space for all your goodies—even a space for your media device, so you can get your jam on while jamming on some ice.

I'm sure there are those out there who appreciate an athletic fit but I feel bd got carried away. The jacket fits like a compression base layer both thru the chest and in the arms. I'm definitely not a large guy. I could have sized up but the torso and arm length were nice so I ended up returning it. Some might appreciate such a fitted piece and to its credit the schoeller softshell is quite stretchy. But I couldn't see much use for that type of fit in an unlined softshell. It's definitely made for use with just a base layer in my opinion.
