Black Diamond Stopper Set Reviews:

Great for starting a rack

I bought these and some hexes as the start of my trad rack. You just can't go wrong with these nuts. They cover a broad range and have 4 possible placement orientations expanding their versatility. I would get #1-3 as well even thought they say only for aid. You may need to add multiples of certain sizes for your area, but this kit will get it done for most varied width cracks that are not flaring outwards.

Great first set of Pro

Used these to set up a couple of topropes so far, looking forward to doing more with them. The range of nuts seems really versatile for the type of anchors I'm used too, with good overlap between the sizes.

I did get one nut really jammed into a crack and it scuffed up the anodization pretty bad, but the structure is still fine and I'm looking forward to scuffing up the rest.

Can't be beat!

I've never understood the reasoning for all the other manufacturers to design fancy passive protection. BD's stoppers are simple and work well. Don't waste money buying other "fancy" stoppers. These are the basis for all others and will suffice in any environment. You'll find that these cost roughly half of what some of the other brands retail for.

Essential for a reason.

They work great. Period.

Having a "scooped-out" shape, they're really versatile, as it allows you to place the stopper facing either left or right inside a crag (depending on what fits better). One set alone covers most of what you'll need for top roping, but I'll buy another for trad.

Industry standard for a reason...

Nothing much to say that hasn't been said about these. There is a reason BD is the industry standard...Solid nuts for all-around trad use. Perfect addition to any rack (esp for beginners learning to place pro - start out placing passive pcs and SLCD's will be a cakewalk).

great pieces

Anyhow, the BD stoppers are very easy to place. They are not as versatile as the DMM wallnuts (in that they don't fit as wide a range of contours), but this is one potential benefit they bear, as good placements in the rock are easier to identify.

Essential Gear For Any Rack!

I love placing these stoppers! There is nothing like placing a stopper and then giving it a few hard yanks to set it in place. Cams are quicker and generally stronger but stoppers will fit in places few cams will go.

Cheap and Reliable

This is my second set of these nuts and they have never let me down, I honestly feel more safe with these baby's more than I do cams. Definitely a requirement for an average climber.

Great first purchase for starting a rack

This set #4-13 is the perfect set for general use. This is a great set to get your rack started. Great to use for top roping and will grow with you into your first leads.

I recommend these to everybody. The curved shape seems to fit anywhere and they are easy to learn trad with. I often place them and think, "Man, I would love to fall on that piece"
