Black Diamond makes big-mountain skis, freetour skis, all-mountain skis, and touring skis. The Aspect Ski is dedicated touring ski with a versatile 90mm waist that's not quite fat, but definitely not skinny. The flat tail gives away its ascent-via-skin-track heritage while the semi-rocker tip gives a nod to the influence of highly agile, powder-hungry ski designs of the present. You can push this wood-core ride deep into its aggressive sidecut in steep backcountry terrain and float it through post-storm tree stashes.
The best of the old and new, performance on powder and hard pack, nimble yet floating—the versatile Black Diamond Aspect Ski gives you ready-for-anything ski touring performance. The nimble 90mm underfoot width and classic touring shape combined with a stiff carbon-fiber reinforced wood core help you hammer through snow at high speeds while aggressive edges and torsionally stiff ABS sidewall construction keep you railing through icy corners. The wide semi-rocker tip keeps you afloat on soft powder, and since you have to work for your reward while ski touring, SkinLock tail tabs hold your skins in place while the classic tail shape gives you plenty of contact during the traverses between turns.
The Black Diamond Aspect is a fully cambered, cap constructed, lightweight backcountry ski. It is best suited for tight and quick turns, longer approaches and ascents, but it still has enough girth for stability and some float in soft snow. With notched tails to accommodate skins, and a flat tail for multi-purpose backcountry utility, the Aspect is most at home carving corn on multi day trips from Mt. Washington to the Sierra.
