Ultimate hiking poles | |

| I walk 10-12 miles per day and use my hiking poles every day for upper body workout. Black Diamond have the best, easiest adjustement hiking poles on the market. I climb 14ers in CO in the summer. Quick and frequent adjustment is a major advantage of Black Diamond poles. Two years ago, I made the mistake of buying a bargain price, lightweight, screw adjustment design hiking pole, which I've used for the past two years, but found length adjustment, while climbing about 15 CO 14ers, was a real pain. The longer secondary grip of these B-D poles is handy for a quick, short duration use for the uphill pole. The shock absorber on my eliptical poles is really well designed. It takes the beating out of hiking, compared to rigid poles. The Black Diamond Eliptical Shock absorber, extended handle pole with small attached snow/sand basket is my ultimate pole. I will use these for the rest of my daily walking and hiking career, (I've averaged 3300 miles per year for the past 4 years), which should be many thousands of miles of wear and tear. | |

| This is my second pair of BD poles. These folks make products that get better every year. These poles are very light, packable, and tough as nails. I will NEVER go back to "twist 'em" trekking poles now that I've tried BD's flip lock style. Fast, easy adjustments, no slip, easy to use while wearing gloves, and easy to clean and maintain. This model is good for four season use because all sections are flip lock, so there are no mechanisms to ice up or jam. Get some snow baskets, and you're ready for all terrain, all seasons. Your knees will thank you. | |
