High time to improve trekking sticks
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Black Diamond has made a great improvement with the click-in system. No longer do I have to twist and twist to loosen or tighten my trekking sticks. I was totally happy from the first usage once I got comfortable with how it worked. One thing I would change: I would have a left and right stick in order to keep the operational part of the adjustment always on the outside. Either they should be on the outside on both sticks or both on the inside. The make should have made a decision. When left and right of anything is involved it should be carried through. | |

Nothing short of brilliant

| I was out on an 8 day trek in the Tasmanian wilderness when my left foot had a bout of gout. It was immensely painful whenever I put pressure on it but for the sake of completing the hike, I had to go on. Without the aid of my new Black Diamond poles, I don't think I would've been able to complete the hike. I had to put so much pressure on the poles to traverse over undulating terrain on ascents/descents that there were points I thought they would buckle and crack. But they held up supremely well and are deserving of the 5 star rating. | |

"best sticks i have ever used"
| Rating: | ![]() |
| am a big guy (6'1", 250lbs) with a bad knee blown out in college lacrosse and rely on sticks to get me down mountains...i really put alot of stress on them so i do not have to put alot on my knees...have destroyed many a leki and komperdell pole...these poles support my weight and have never slipped or collapsed after many miles in the rockies and san juans in co and the whites in nh. (btw, i lied about most of the things in the public profile section cause i wanted the extra points...i'm not really dead and probably not a hunk and a half) | |

Top notch poles. | |

| I'm impressed by BD's locking system. It seems to work better than the twist style used by many of the other manufacturer's (although it can still collapse if not tightened properly). The grips aren't as rubberized as other models I've used allowing extended un-gloved use without blisters. So far they seem quit durable, which is supposedly one of the selling points of the elliptical style. I've bent literally dozens of pairs of collapsable poless over the years, usually in boulder fields. These seem like they might actually hold up. All in all very pleased with the purchase. | |

| I can't believe I waited so long to retire my Leki twist-lock poles. The foam handles on the Contour Elliptic are extremely comfortable and the 15-degree forward tilt really helps wrist wear and tear. The wrist straps are extremely well designed and comfortable--the difference they make is huge. Finally, the flick locks are so reliable, they make collapsing and expanding the poles a snap. No more fiddling to get the internal twist-lock mechanism to catch--with flick locks, it's an open and shut case. These are clearly superior and some of the best poles on the market. | |

Heavenly soft grips | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I have used these poles extensively, the longest time for a 12 day hike in the Swiss Alps. The grip is so soft and comfortable. I had no issues with hand blisters. The hand loops are comfortable with a wide strap to prevent chaffing. The flip lock meant that I could quickly and easily collapse them down to attach to my pack. They also collapsed small enough to fit inside my pack, very important for air travel. I like too that they have a removable snow/mud basket. I'm a fan | |

Great poles | |

| I hike in the Chugach Mountains in Alaska year round. I use these poles on all hike and when hunting I find these poles superior to any other that I have tried. Excellent locking mechanism and very comfortable grips. They have taken a lot of abuse and have never failed me. Minor con (as with any collapsible pole), the sliding part of the poles can freeze solid in 0F temperatures and will not expand or collapse until thawed. | |

Flip-Locks Rule | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This is my fifth pair of trekking poles. I had previously owned Komperdell and Leki poles. But after using these, I am a Black Diamond loyalist. No matter how much abuse I put these poles through, the flip-locks do not slip, unlike the fasteners on other poles. The flip-locks are easy to adjust, strong, and dependable. The elliptical shape adds strength. The shock-absorbers are comfortable. The grips and wrist-straps are comfortable. Excellent poles. | |

Good poles | |

| Had a pair of BD with the snap lock..Broke the snap loc quick...liked the stiffness of the ellipse and wanted collapsable poles. Went w/ these...so far they are great...only about 50 miles on them now...if you are into poles that telescope these are way stiffer and stronger than any round screw shaft poles. | |

"getting older and bigger by the hike, so these poles came in great, especially on the downside"
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Sturdy, light, and won't collapse (unlike some of the non-ellipticals). By the way, your customer service was excellent. I was sent the compact size initially. I called. You sent out the correct size with a return package pronto. Thanks. | |
