| Black Diamond takes the next step in avalanche saftey with this pack. With integrated Avalung this pack might very well save you life in the back country. This is a minmalist pack though, make no mistake about it. Its small, light and only holds the main essentials. This pack is not intended for long tours in the back country, but more for a one day ski trip. My favorite part about this pack is the easy access BD Deploy 7 shovel and probe pockets. Its right in the front and very quick access. The Avalung is obviously a plus and if you are buying this pack you are probably getting it specifically for this. I don't have any first hand accounts of the Avalung but I will tell y | |

| A simple, straight forward pack with easy access to avy gear, and an insulated shoulder strap that actually keeps water liquid. The 22L proved a little small for my backcountry day trip needs though. I'm exchanging for the 32L model, w/Avalung because hey, if it's available why not? The worst that happens is that you never need it. | |
