The lightweight Fritschi Diamir Eagle combines a gliding, natural stride with the downhill performance and safety features of a high-end alpine binding. Featuring Diamir Gliding Technology, which has a moving baseplate that maintains full release capability even in awkward uphill situations, the Eagle brings a new level of comfort, safety and performance to the alpine touring world.
The first thing I noticed with these bindings is how light they are. If you compare them with marker bindings these are half the weight, easy. I initially purchased the scout 11 and unhappy with how lightweight they were and thought they might give me problems. The eagle have beefier mounts and all around more durable. I put these on my BD Zealot 110 skis. A wider brake by diamir is required. If mounting on new skis make sure your shop has the "new" jig or the holes wont line up properly. I have yet to try them out in the backcountry so a better review will come.
First time out with these and my new K2 she's back ski. Love them! Easy to use. I could make all the changes I needed with my ski pole.
Full discloser , I am splitboarder. My BC partner does ski and has had this completely break on him multiple times on the tour in and on the downhill. The plastic cannot take the abuse of moving and flexing in tour mode.
