Black Diamond Moxie Headlamp

REI

Designed with women in mind, the updated Moxie headlamp opens up the night due to three LEDs with adjustable brightness and strobe ability.

  • Two side LEDs and one central 0.5-watt LED throw light a maximum distance of 32 meters, bettering the 21 meters of the original Moxie
  • Streamlined design sets the beam at an efficient illumination angle; ratcheting swivel head aims light where you need it
  • Two bright LEDs and single 0.5-watt LED operate independently; switch on top lets you select from low, medium or high lighting levels for each
  • Strobe functions for the paired LEDs and the 0.5-watt LED add signaling capabilities
  • Water-resistant construction for full-on reliability in inclement weather
  • Headlamp features an automatic turn-off function should it accidentally be left on in a pack; lamp turns off at 9.5 hours
  • Compact design fits securely around head with adjustable elastic band that won't pull hair
  • Runs on three AAA batteries (included); battery compartment is just behind LEDs for a compact design

You can't hug the trees if you can't see them, so get the flower-powered Black Diamond Moxie Headlamp to light your way. Okay, so it's not really powered by flowers. The Moxie Headlamp actually uses 3 AAA batteries (included) to shine its four SuperBright LEDs up to 18m (59ft). This flower-printed version of the Cosmo Headlamp includes a dimming switch and is great for hiking, backpacking, climbing, and late-night tree-hugging.

i'm a fan

i can't find anything bad to say about this headlamp...it's adorable, comfy, and the batteries last a really long time. the "half press" of the button to adjust the brightness of the beam is a little annoying until you get the hang of it, but otherwise it's a wonderful little light!

Fantastic all-around headlamp. Reasonable weight and extremely reliable. Ultra cute design for women. Used this headlamp for summit day on Gasherbrum II at 12am in dumping snowfall, and had no problems with the cold/batteries etc. Great range of vision as well in the pitch dark and precipitation. Also carry this as part of my ready pack for search & rescue and for climbing long routes (as back-up). Love the flip attributes of the lamp itself, easy to adjust, and variation on type of lighting, along with a blinking flash component.

nice headlamp

I got this on sale and was a great buy for the quality. Use it mainly for walking/hiking back from climbing in the evening and at night when camping. Lightweight and pretty powerful beam even on the lowest setting. Never needed to use the strobe light for anything but could see its usefulness in an emergency/help needed situation...or for disco parties in the tent.

For the price this is a perfect head lamp. Nice compact and has a simple 1 button selector. The only complaint is that to switch the brightness you have to push the button down half way, just something you will have to get used to.

Plastic lamp stays broke after first use. Buy a Petzl.

I'm impressed with how darn bright this is and how comfortable it is to wear. The adjustable beam works much better than expected. It's also really stable walking around. Haven't tried it on my bike yet. The problem I have with it is the case design. Getting the battery cover off is really hard. Plan to break a nail every time you have to change the batteries. Getting the cover back on is easier, but it's easy to catch the flexible hinges in the cover when you close it, too. The multi-position switch is a massive pain. I actually returned my first Moxie thinking it was broken. On and off is easy. However, getting the switch partway depressed to go into the "special" modes takes a careful touch and quite a bit of getting used to. Screwing with a temperamental device on a trail in the dark is not my idea of fun. They really need to rework the case on this.

Technically this is the girl version of the headlamp, though I don't care. I style this headlamp everywhere from the crag to alpine routes. Good luminance. Reasonable weight
