Springtime is a great time to see the mountains - out West, at least, because it's kind of muddy here in Vermont. For early-season trips where temperatures aren't too cold but chilly gusts and snowy slopes are still a concern, pick up a pair of Black Diamond Pilot Gloves. Pilot Glove Shines

I use these for skinning up on my splitboard. The leather palm and fingers are great for grip and the snug fit provided the needed dexterity for assembling and knocking down a splitboard with skins. Have only used them once so duability is unknown but they seem very well-made.

Negative Reviews:

Not Very Warm

The gloves looked great and were a good fit for my hands. I was looking forward to using them for many seasons, but they are not warm enough. I've used them on two trips. The warmest trip was up Mt Baldy in late spring with winds gusting to 30 mph, temps were in the low 50's. My hands were cold with these gloves.

Neutral Reviews:

A bit too simple...

The are a bit small and do not offer enough protection for ice climbing. But great they're great for classic mountaineering.
