With enough comfort to climb, enough warmth to belay and enough dexterity to tie knots in freezing temps, the Black Diamond Punisher Gloves is Black Diamond's go-to glove for long days, hard climbing and variable conditions. Built with highly durable, abrasion-resistant materials and an articulated fit, the Punisher performs through season after season of winter abuse. A fixed, waterproof BDry liner protects against wet ice and the EVA padding shields you from shattered plates and accidental knuckle bashing.

Lots of manufacturers make extremely warm gloves that turn your hands into useless paddles. That isn't the story with this glove. The Black Diamond Punisher Glove blends unsurpassed dexterity with full weather protection and is designed for long alpine routes or ice cragging in variable temperatures. The Punisher has a fixed lining and a BDry waterproof breathable liner to fight off the weather. The four-way stretch shell provides a full range of motion, extremely important when you find yourself 80 feet off the ground on a frozen waterfall. The 100g fleece lining is warm but not overbearing, easy to move in, and soft to the touch. The pre-curved fingers are designed to feel natural when wrapped around an ice tool. The Punisher also sports an ultra-durable goat leather palm and EVA foam-padded knuckles to protect your fingers.
Designed for those tweener temperature days, when sensitivity and dexterity are at a premium or if you have to make a few free moves, the Punisher is Black Diamond's classic do-it-all ice climbing glove.

Black Diamond Punisher Glove Reviews:

Pretty awsome glove

Bought a pair and liked them so much, I bought a spare pair on sale.

The good?

Very good dexterity and excellent warmth in windy/cold conditions down into single digits.

Too warm for hiking/climbing in mild weather, more in tune with use on the alpine incline in near zero temps.

However, they can also serve well around the homefront if you happen to have temps below freezing and suffer sedentary commutes or similar low activity moments where the insulation & windproof construction of these gloves proves very effective & beneficial.

And they have good "feel" with the goatskin fingers/palms, so operating smaller things like radios, keys, carabiners, etc. is not challenging.

I do use the finger loop to hang & dry on a regular basis, very convenient.

The bad?

On mine, the finger length and fit is excellent. However, while the pinky length is good, the stitching stops too short next to the ring finger, making movement a bit awkward. The cuff is pretty snug too, so if you have arthritis, they can be awkward/painful to put on or remove as the cuffs compress tightly around one's wrists & hands (and yes, that's with the Velcro released).

Also, as is common with most gloves these days be sure to check them over for unfinished stitches, one pair had several long threads hanging out where they were not trimmed or finished. Quick knot, trim, and melt with a lighter on the thread - good to go without fraying risks for many seasons...

All that said, I'd buy these again (as I did) and enjoy them - especially on sale. Tremendous performance and value.

Most bulky gloves lead to lost dexterity and eventually cold hands from gripping tools. Not these bad boys. I put them to the test on a particularly cold day in the White Mountains and my hands stayed warm and nimble.
