The ultimate blend of light weight and load-carrying ability in a technical alpine pack, the Quantum comfortably hauls heavy loads in the high peaks using our fully modular V-Flex suspension system that conforms to your back. Cushy 15 mm foam is used in the ergonomically-curved shoulder straps and 14 mm in the waistbelt with additional, stiffer foam added on pressure points for weight distribution. It’s built with ultralight, durable and water-shedding VX 21 Dimension Polyant laminated fabric and lined with lightweight 30d SilNylon. The ultimate blend of light weight and load-carrying ability in a technical alpine pack, the Black Diamond Quantum 45 Pack comfortably hauls heavy loads using our new fully modular V-Flex suspension system that conforms to your back. Cushy 15 mm foam is used in the ergonomically-curved shoulder straps and 20 millimeters in the waistbelt with an additional three millimeters of stiffer foam added on pressure points for weight distribution. It’s built with ultralight, durable and water-shedding VX 21 Dimension Polyant laminated fabric and lined with lightweight 30d SilNylon. The Black Diamond Quantum 45 Pack takes on single-push alpine ascents and days of ice climbing with the same clean, functional features and extremely low weight. Though this climbing pack makes it under the four-pound mark (even before you start removing stuff), it includes two tool holders, crampon straps, and a suspension system that can take a lot of weight. Plus, you can strip this Black Diamond pack to nothing more than a sack with shoulder straps if you want to get serious about saving weight in the mountains.
The Quantum pack from Black Diamond makes the leap between backpacking functionality and no-frills climbing seem practically effortless. Using a dual-density support system, modular V-flex suspension, and quick access panels, this pack offers as many options as you can imagine. Specifications based on size Large/ Extra Large.

"A great minimalist big day climbing pack that can be used for single night trips." | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This is a pretty sweet pack. I got this as a supplement to me Arcteryx Bora 65 for a smaller, more streamlined climbing pack that can also be used for single night trips. I've used this for long day climbs mostly. I have even strapped a snowboard to the back of it for a long day tour once with some extra webbing straps. I don't recommend doing that. It didn't work too hot and the pack isn't designed for that. Also, if the pack is under loaded, the lid will not fit well and sort of fall to the back. This isn't a major flaw however as the lid can be removed. A very comfortable harness and hip belt. | |
