Black Diamond Sphynx 32L

Hiking & Camping > BackpacksRated: ***** by 1 review.

Paragon Sports

A rock and ice pack with a low-profile design and clean lines, the Sphynx 32L has enough room for your winter gear yet is versatile enough for all-season use. Made from 420d nylon with side compression straps, PickPocket ice tool holders and Hypalon daisy chains, this top-loading pack is ideal for carrying technical gear. A space-saving external helmet holder also works well for stashing wet clothes or gloves. Its 20 mm aluminum stay, ergo-molded foam back panel, and padded waistbelt provide a comfortable carry.

Features:

  • Die Cut Hypalon: Two-layer Hypalon accessory loops are incredibly durable and streamlined as opposed to the clutter of traditional webbing accessory loops. Grippy and extremely tough, Hypalon is ideal for attaching ice and snow gear to your pack.
  • Ergo-molded: Suspension Ergo-molded foam back panels, waistbelts and shoulder straps are anatomically shaped to eliminate pressure points while transferring the load evenly over areas of contact. Our ergo-molded suspensions allow for a custom-fit feel with excellent support.
  • Hydration compatible
  • Secure PickPocket ice tool holders
  • Shock cord helmet holder
  • Side tool straps provide wide compression range
  • SilNylon: Our SilNylon is silicone and PU-coated nylon—a unique material with a high strength-to-weight ratio, water-shedding capability and the ability to self-heal small punctures. SilNylon is used throughout our pack line for its light weight and excellent strength.
  • Volume: 32 L (1953 CU IN)
  • Weight: 1.35 KG (2 LB 1 OZ)
  • Y-Rod: Our unique Y-Rod aluminum stay, with no welded points, provides support where needed, yet enough flexibility to give total freedom of movement. Cut and bent from aluminum rod stock, the Y-Rod offers a better strength-to-weight ratio than more common aluminum pack stays.

"Great pack for simplicity and durablity. Also great support from Moosejaw."

Rating:*****
The BD 32L Sphynx is a great climbing pack. I was debating between a few packs but when it came down to it I chose this pack, and i'm glad I did. BD's quality is outstanding. For the pack's features Pro's Removeable waist belt, back support, I've always used ice axe loops but I really like the buckles on the bottom and the bottom sleeve, nice feature. For the back support i use my SAM Splint and it works perfectly. Also the pack has a hydration sleeve that works well for a pocket. I store my medical kit in there as well as other equipment that I don't normally use ie.- splints etc. Also has crampon attachment points, which are hard to find on many packs. Con's Not BD's fault, and it
